Interviewed Mar 2010 (took a day)
Applied online. That day I received a call from the recruiter. After a screening from the recruiter, a face-to-face interview was set up. I met with the sales manager and the regional manager. The managers are nice people. Thing is, they are playing a numbers game. They were just looking to hire between 8-10 people. Very easy interview. The managers and recruiters paint a picture that you will be making 100K within one year if you work very hard. Not true, it will take a two to three years to do so.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 1 week)
A recruiter found me via LinkedIn, and called me. He was very nice, professional and excited about being a part of ReachLocal. We had a very informal interview during our first converation where he gauged my interest. At the end of the conversation, we both decided to move forward.
The recruiter coached me about what to do, what to say, and what to wear to my in-person interview with the RSM (regional sales manager). It made me think that the recuriter gets paid a commission based on his applicants being hired or not. No problem, though. I appreciated his insider's point-of-view.
After the RSM, I was asked to speak with AD (area director). He was great. Gave me background on his position in the company and asked a few very basic questions. Why do you want to work here? He put me at ease immediately by telling me the RSM already suggested that they hire me, and that this interview was really for me to make sure that I wanted to work for ReachLocal.
At the end of the call with the AD, he told me his only reservation was that he was not sure I would stay through the ramp up period because the low base salary. -- $36,000 - $40,000.
The recruiter called the next day and offered me the position. Then I had to speak with his HR supervisor for a review of what was to come next -- a background check whcih inlcuded submitting my last w2s. That part was a little annoying, but I complied. A third party company will verify your last employment and they are sticklers for dates, so be very careful about that.
This whole process took about a week, from me being found online to getting the job offer.
Once I received the offer, then it was time to study for my pre-BootCamp test. You are required to take an online test the Friday before you go to BootCamp in Dallas. ReachLocal pays you for your time taking the test. The HR departmetn is very specific about the items you are supposed print and bring with you to BootCamp. They are not kidding if you do not do it, then your BootCamp is delayed.
BootCamp is an intensive week-long training in Dallas, TX where all new employees go to be submerged into the ReachLocal culture. It is very organized, and very informative. I was impressed.
What's more impressive is the group of people they bring to BootCamp. Everyone there was sales rep of the year or month at their previous jobs -- mostly from the print, radio, and YP backgrounds.
If you are luck enough to make it this far, be prepared to study every night in the hotel room for your final exam on Friday. You must pass the exam in order to keep the job. Our instructor was awesome, she made sure that we prepared for the exam. BootCamp is just the beginnig. There's more training once you get to your local office. Good luck.
Interview Questions
Negotiation Details
No real negotiation. You must show a w2 with recent income in excess of $80,000 in order to receive a $4-$6K bump in your starting base salary. And then, after 12 months it will go back down. Their goal is to have everyone at the same base salary in a given market. (i.e. NYC has a higher base because it is a higher cost of living than in Louisiana.)

The interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview and a Background Check.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 4+ weeks)
I was contacted by a recruiter at ReachLocal (she saw my resume on Monster). I had never heard of ReachLocal before, but was definitely interested, so here was my interviewing process:
1) Phone screen interview with the recruiter
2) Phone interview with a Program Manager
3) Personality and skills tests (conducted online)
4) In person group interview with the Regional Sales Manager and my potential team mate, an Account Executive
4) Phone interview with the Area Director
The recruiter was very great about following up with me and keeping me informed throughout the process. From the beginning, I had great vibes when I interviewed with each employee of ReachLocal. The office was unique with a basketball hoop and a putt putt stand.
If you're interested in working at ReachLocal, make sure you are fully confident in your interviews and you'll be fine. The main reason I got the job was because I asked for it, so show you really want it!

Interviewed Apr 2011 (took 2 weeks)
Solicited by recruiter via LinkedIn. Keep your LinkedIn profile accurate and up to date. Very organized vetting process with resume submission, phone interviews and later in person office with manager and later area director. No stupid questions like where you plan to be in five years. Very professional. People are great, culture is outstanding and the office is typical with cubicals. Add a ping pong table, big screen, coffee and water to sweeten the deal. Best place I've worked at in a long time and better yet, products really work. Ideal career path for ex Yellow Pages reps who want to work in an environment with integrity, team support that values a work ethic and serving clients.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Plano, TX (took 2 weeks)
Received a call from a recruiter to discuss the position and find out if I am still interested. I was so she sent me an email with an abundance of information about the company. We set up another phone interview where she asked me, for the most part, the same questions she asked the first time we talked. She set up an in-person interview with a campaign manager and gave me details about how great the manager was, more information about how great the company is, and more information about the next step in the process. She then added me as a connection on LinkedIn which I thought was terribly odd (considering we've never met in person nor have we worked together). I went to my interview (in proper interview dress) and felt very awkward and overdressed. Most of the people working there looked like they just walked off a college campus and were dressed very casually. After walking back and forth through sections of cubicles without one person looking up, I finally approached someone and told them I was there for an interview. About 10 minutes later, another very young woman who was also dressed very casually welcomed me and walked me into the office for an interview. She asked me typical interview questions (experience, customer service, give an example when..., etc.) and they were all pretty simple and straightforward. I was well prepared, thanks to the recruiter, but she seemed somewhat uninterested and only gave an occasional "absolutely!" or "definitely!" every once in a while. Within a couple of business days the recruiter called and left a message to tell me they "went with someone else" and to give her a call if I had any questions. I think they are looking for someone with call center or heavy sales experience because this position is basically providing customer service in a call center with room for advancement to a sales position. This is probably a great job for a young person with a degree that they can't use anywhere else. The amount that they pushed their company and products before even offering an interview, and the fact that the recruiter (who should know how to use LinkedIn appropriately) added me as a connection were really off-putting but I appreciated that the entire process was pretty quick. That is really helpful for those who are going on several interviews.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 2 weeks)
Applied online. Recruiter called me the next day. Did an initial phone interview to go over my experience and skill set. Did a 2nd phone interview with the manager of recruiting. Finally did an in person interview with the hiring manager. They decided to offer someone else the position. Although I didn't get the position, I am very satisfied with the interview process. Everyone was very straightforward and very direct. Classy organization. Definitely recommend that you have HEAVY cold calling experience (100 calls per day) working for another company, otherwise you will probably not get the job.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Plano, TX (took 5 days)
They found me on Career Builder and contacted me. Set up phone interview, told me they would call. Recruiter did not call me, was very unprofessional and blamed it all on me for not calling her when I reached out.
Two 1-1 interviews. They had a list of questions already made up and just going through the motions and writing down all my answers. Made me write an essay later that evening. Brought me in for second interview, interviewer left me waiting for almost an hour.
