Interviewed Dec 2011 in Fort Lauderdale, FL (took 2 months)
First I forwarded my resume. I had to follow up with a dozen phone calls. Finally, I got a phone call with the immediate supervisor. He asked to forward my recommendations. He called back 2 weeks later to schedule a phone interview, one-on-one. Following week a phone interview, on speaker phone, with a few additional people. Promised to get back to me. After, many follow-up calls and emails (by me) I was given a day notice they would be conducting interviews in South Florida. Went for an interview, with the immediate manager as well as a local rep. Interview lasted over an hour. It went really well and was told I would hear by months end (November). After December 10th, I attempted to contact them, many times via txt, email, and phone calls, but to no avail. Finally, December 15th I recieved an email saying they found a more qualified person for the position.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Washington, DC (took 2 days)
A colleague flagged a listing at this organization. She and I both knew the hiring manager. I contacted her even though I knew the position was too junior for me. I spoke with her and another director by phone. We had a great conversation. They acknowledged that while this position wasn't the right fit, they think that I could lend a lot to their fundraising initiative. In my "thank you" email, I offered to have an informal conversation advising them on some challenges that they were facing. We met in person and have an informal talk. They do not have the funds to hire me at this point, but it established strong relationships.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 4+ weeks)
This job is typically filled internally. If you are not an employee and lucky, an insider will let you know of the job opportunity. The first interview is through the phone. The second interview is with HR. The third interview is with the hiring manager. The HR really does not know details of the JD. The final decision is made by HQ who reviews paperwork and provides the final ok.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Dallas, TX (took 3 weeks)
I found a very brief summary of the position online. Per the description's instructions, I sent a letter of interest (through email) to HR and attached my resume. I never received a description but, about two weeks later, I received an email that let me know (on a Thursday) that I had an interview at 2:00 on Monday. I thought this was somewhat odd. I still wasn't sure exactly what the position required and I thought it was strange that they scheduled the interview without even speaking with me. (What if I had a job that wouldn't allow me to leave at 2:00 on a Monday?) Anyways, the two staff members who interviewed me were very nice but only one seemed interested in what I had to say. I think the other lost interest in me pretty early on which was disappointing because, at least on paper, I thought I was a great fit for the position once I learned exactly what the position involved. (I know... biased opinion.) They told me they would make a decision right away and I never heard back from them. Obviously they decided to go with someone else! Maybe next time! :-) Overall, not the worst interview experience I've had.

Interviewed May 2011 in Washington, DC (took a day)
At beginning of interview questions were broad "Tell me a little about yourself ... tell me about your work at XXX." Toward the end of the interview asked questions stating "A quick question" questions that came across as an afterthought, but in fact we're pretty relevant.

Interviewed Mar 2010 (took a day)
I was looking for an internship. I met the recruiter from American Red Cross at school career fair. I talked to the recruiter and handed my resume to her. Later, I submitted my application through the school career website. I was invited for an interview one week later.
The interviewers are two students just graduated from school. They asked me about my previous leadership experience and event planning experiences. Since they had my resume, so I just explained what I have accomplished in the past.
The interview is about 40 mins, they seemed to be satisfied with my answers, and asked me what time I could start.
I was extended an offer immediately. This was just an internship, and I didn't get any forms of payment.
