Security Response Engineer Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Red Hat in July 2013.
Interview Details – Hiring process was refined and fun, had 3 Technical Rounds, all telephonic, 1 HR, over skype and 1 Sample Analysis test, over email, all from different geographies of the world spanning 2 months from the date of applying to getting selected.
Technical rounds were mapped well and each of the three rounds were focused for different capabilities, 1st technical round was rather to eliminate weak candidates, Two People took the interview one after the other, spanning 50 mins. and questions were easy and regarding security and projects. 2nd round was a very deep technical, covering almost all the security and hacking basics you can expect, lasted 1hr., and 3rd round was more of analytical and logical thinking test, giving you situation based question, last 40mins.
Sample sent was easy to analyze if you know what to do. but requires you to have a very strong grip on your concepts, because none of my friends were able to solve that. HR round was more of a formality and just asked basic HR questions, which were easy to answer.
Interview Question – Sorry, you don't expect me to post a SPOILER here, just prepare yourself well, you could be asked almost anything related to security. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – Good possibility of negotiation if you know how to do it, was able to get 20% higher than that was quoted.
Security Response Engineer Interview (Positive Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied through an employee referral and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Red Hat.
Interview Details – Applied online for two positions, had two phone interviews - one from a HR person, the other from a engineer. Questions were about web and virtualization security and weren't hard. I also had to analyze and evaluate a sample security issue that was sent via email. Nice experience overall, great people.
Interview Question – What threats is a virtualized web server subject to? View Answer
