I applied through other source. The process took 2+ weeksinterviewed at Red Hat in January 2010.

They come across as very standoff-ish and like they're better than other companies. Their HR communication and accessibility is terrible - until they've decided they want you - then they try and turn the charm on. That was a red flag to me (how they treat someone at the start should tell you about the company's culture and environment.). Hiring manger was much better with communication.

Reasons for Declining

After checking into their work/life balance it sounds like they grind up employees and burn them out. Sounds like they know most people will only be around for a few years - so max them out to get the most productivity while they're in play. Ask for verifiable info on who long like position workers have been working - avg length of employment. They also pay on the lower end - I got another offer that was 20% more than what they offered for virtually the same position.
