Interviewed May 2010 in Morgan Hill, CA (took 2 weeks)
I went in for an interview after turning in an application and recieving a call by a shift manager named ( ), he was a really down to earth guy , real easy to get along with and feel comfortable enough to answer some of the questions that requuire some thought to your past work expeirnce. Like one of the questions asked to me "Tell me a time you had to react quickly to a situation and how you would handle that situation", which I kinda stumbled anyways but I still got a second interview for what i believe was me smiling, Greeting the "manager" style workers by name and introducing myself with my full name (minus middle, lol).
The second interview involved the store manager which he was a very relaxed and consistent interviewer it was a quick interview that was just a 1:1 conversation about my past expeirence, what I wanted to add to the company, also my own intrest (which I had listed some tech intrest I own on my re'sume) (aka: "Competitive Video Gaming", which sounds a bit unprofessional but in the right circumstances provide me with some good new people ice break conversations).
And by the way (btw) though I had some pretty cool and relaxed directed questionaire (interview) I always over think an interview before hand, but ive found talking to myself like a crazy person (hah) on the way to the interview about how great of a person and worker I'am it helps build my confedence before hand. Try it next time and scare some close by cars and probaly family members or friends while talking to yourself on the road.
"I am strong I'm the one man/woman that can truly work this job right"

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Seattle, WA (took a day)
The HR reached me by finding my information from Monster.com and offered me a phone interview. I could not make it on the day they asked me and had to reschedule but they were very lazy about it. I had to call them at least ten times to reschedule. Finally got the rescheduled interview and afterward they said they will call but kept giving me excuses and ended up telling me a month later that they are not hiring...

Interviewed Mar 2010 (took 2+ weeks)
I am still in the process of the interview. The last one is this week. I have talked to the recruiter 5 times and am meeting with the District manager for the second time this week. I also spent a couple hours with the store manager seeing how it ran. Seems very professional this far

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Waldorf, MD (took 2 weeks)
The hiring process is much more extensive than any other restaurants. They have an initial interview and if they hire you there are several classrooms and training sessions. You are tested on just about everything, even things you don't need to know for your position. They time you on serving tables on the regular.

Interviewed May 2008 in Eugene, OR (took a day)
I came in with a resume and dressed nicely, seeking a position as a busboy. The manager agreed to sit down and see me. I suppose it was my job to lose the moment I sat down with him because he asked me easy questions, mostly centered around my restaurant experience, and offered me the job soon after.

You fill out an application submit it with a resume and BUG the hell out of them until you can speak with a manager. You interview, be sure to smile and be upbeat. They determine whether or not you are good at conversation and multi tasking and give you an offer on the spot.

Interviewed May 2007 in Bellingham, WA (took 3 days)
After my Freshman year of college I was looking for a job, so I spent a few days going door to door to fill out applications. Red Robin had a standard application, and I filled it out on site. I gave it to the manager on duty who said that they would keep the application on file for up to a year and if I didn't hear anything from them in three weeks to give them a call to check on the status. Three weeks later I still hadn't heard anything, so I decided to stop by the restaurant. I told the manager on duty that I had applied three weeks ago, but still hadn't heard anything. She immediately invited me to sit down at a booth and have an interview. We discussed my previous jobs as well as my teamwork skills. She also asked a lot of the standard interview questions. All in all it was about a 20 minute interview. At the end she mentioned that it is normally a three interview process, but since she liked me well enough we would skip the 2nd interview. She scheduled me a one on one interview with the GM of the restaurant for a few days later. This interview was very similar to the first one with questions about my past experience and how I worked as a team. Teamwork is a skill that the company values greatly. They also are a very strong company when it comes to customer service, so that is a great point to sell yourself on as well. This interview lasted about 20 minutes as well and at the end the GM offered me the job which I accepted.

All employees except cooks and managers earn minimum wage. We had some servers that had been there over 8 years and they were still making minimum. Tips more than make up for the lack of wage though.
