walked in to salon, owner was there, talked to him and his wife about position. ended up at a coffee shop to futher discuss details of position. he was very impressed with my people skills. i was pleased he noticed, his wife was very friendly and had many questions due to the fact this couple has never been in the salon industry. the salon is not even open yet. was told they have been interviewing all week. they are doing the finishing touches and expect to be open soon with the grand opening sometime in december. this interview was unplaned not expected. i just walked in because i seen them inside and decided to check it out. i was shocked at the starting pay!! The starting pay is much higher then what i get now. all most wish i took position.

Reason for Declining
sadly i think i should of taken it. but my concern was this very nice couple have never owned a salon. They are not even licenced hairstylist. That tells me they know very little about the industry. i know i could really help them but what if we butt heads. the knowledge they have was so limited it scared me. they are opening a greatclips and that is good because the name is known, but on the otherhand i feel they are going in to this blinded. i wish them luck .

She took me outside and proceeded to tell me about the previous person that she had fired. Awkward. Basic. Offerred me the job on the spot. I think they need a template to follow as opposed to just whatever the manager feels like asking. It's a hair salon, I know it seems fairly straightforward, but the way these salons are ran, it needs a whole lot less micromanaging and more initiative from the in salon manager.
