Interviewed Jan 2010 in Seattle, WA (took 3 weeks)
Steps for interview: Apply directly on web site. Phone interview for screening. 1-1 interview (be prepared to fill out paper application and bring copies of resume), 2 panel interview w/manager and possible. 2 weeks till notification.
Do your homework on the company. Know what position you are applying for. Be prepared with questions. RH has a value system they feel strongly about so be prepared to identify where you fit in to those values (personal characteristics, quality, service, innovation).

Interviewed Jul 2009 (took 2 weeks)
Everyone that I have encountered was very friendly and was reflective of the culture that Restoration Hardware tries to cultivate.
They will respond to your application by email to schedule a phone interview.
The phone interview with the recruiter. Be sure to PREPARE EARLY because they will probably call you earlier than when the phone interview was scheduled.
At this point, if they are interested in you, they will have you come to HQ for a 1:1 interview with each member of the department staff.

Interviewed Mar 2009 (took 4 weeks)
The first interview was terrific. I had been referred by a former executive with the company, so I felt like I had a bit of a leg up going in the door. The second interview was a phone interview with a manager from another state which also went very, very well and was extremely professional. They seemed very pleased with my level of experience and my overall passion for the job. I felt very confident going forward. The third interview was very odd. The third interview was with the same manager from the first interview, plus another senior manager. The senior manager led the interview, while the other did not speak for nearly the entire 2 hours. We did not address anything professional or work-related for at least the first hour. It was said at the beginning that we would not be talking about my skills or qualifications and she put my resume out of her site, and she then proceeded to ask me an hours worth of personal questions about where I grew up, what my hobbies were, what music I listened to, etc. Some of the questions were exceedingly personal, so much so that it gave me discomfort as to whether or not to answer them. Prior to the 2nd interview, I felt like I was a shoe-in for the job. After the 2nd interview I had felt very confident, but after the 3rd I was not sure. I never heard from them again after that.

Interviewed Jul 2009 (took 5 days)
I had the opportunity to meet some of the staff who were very pleasant. I interviewed with both the store manager and hiring manager and they discussed my background and were attempting to assess whether I would be a good fit for the company.
