Human Resources Interview

Anonymous Employee
Chevy Chase, MD

I applied through other source and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Ritz-Carlton in January 2008.

Interview Details – I was impressed with the number of interviews coordinated (6) in a short period of time (1 week). The process was streamlined, efficient and was impressed with the interview schedule emailed to me prior to my arrival at the corporate office.

Interview Question – My most difficult interview was my interview with Talent +. Ritz-Carlton uses a third party vendor during the initial selection process. The interview is designed to measure your nature talents. Questions were thought provoking however, and none that I would have anticipated in advance. You can't study for it. I will not provide specifics as to not to risk the integrity of our current selection process.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – Unfortunately, I did not negotiate. I was offered much more than what I was currenlty making at the time.

Lobby Lounge Food Runner Interview

Orlando, FL

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Ritz-Carlton in May 2013.

Interview Details – Do not speak in slang, they will not hire you. Wear a suit, get a hair cut, and start researching the company. If you have no experience, do not waste your time applying, no one begins at the Ritz-Carlton, you work your way into it. Prepare for the most intense screening process for an entry level job you will ever have. Always smile and speak as if your were about to drink tea with the president.

Interview Question – Can't remember, Director of food and beverage conducted his interview as we walked around the hotel, threw two curve balls at me that I was not prepared for.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – non negotiable, offer was more than I had expected; a lot more. I will be buying a new car, that is how much they offered.

SPA Concierge Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Ritz-Carlton.

Interview Details – I applied online and took an assessment. A few days later, I got a call from the spa director for a phone interview. She set me up for an interview the next day. When I came to check in with the concierge, everybody was very courteous and professional. An employee escorted me to the spa and the spa concierge escorted me to the waiting area. The interview consisted of all behavioral questions. The dress code was business casual. The spa director actually followed up with me sooner than she told me she would which was nice. Even though I did not get the job, I have a lot of respect for this company and their professionalism.

Front Office Manager Interview

Front Office Manager
New York, NY

The process took 5 weeks - interviewed at Ritz-Carlton in April 2009.

Interview Details – It was a long process, started with a phone call for the HR, followed by another call from the HR department this time they had 10 questions. Next step they had me for a 45 minute phone interview which one has no clue how they did. I passed that and they brought me to the hotel to interview with 5 other people, mostly 30 minutes.

Massage Therapist Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
Denver, CO

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Ritz-Carlton.

Interview Details – I applied on line two years ago and was called in for an interview in less than 2 weeks with the spa manager. Right after the verbal interview we proceeded to a hands on practical. Before I left she said she wanted me to meet with, I'm assuming the spa director. So I thought, "Yay, this is good!". A few days later I had the next interview. It was the "talent plus" questions and about my availability. Granted it was for on-call, I was being honest and told then I had a full time job, going to school and planning a wedding. I know TMI! Long story short, I didn't get the job but re-applied a week ago, the day, the position became available. They declined my application the next day saying they "decided to go with another candidate", but I KNOW they don't hire in a day. A new position came up the next day, so I applied, again. I got the same email 3 days later. And yes, both positions that they claimed to be filled, are still up and "accepting applications". Very disappointing. Just don't reply instead of lying. I thought the Ritz Carlton values were higher than that.

Interview Question – Not difficult, but a lot of the questions had the same feel. "Explain a time in which you worked in a difficult situation and what you did to handle it? How did it make you feel?"   View Answer
