Interviewed Aug 2011 in Atlanta, GA (took 2 days)
Applied online and got invited for an interview. went in for my first interview and it went well. the guy was so nice and I felt like I was talking to my brother. He asked a series of questions from a pamphlet he had such as on a scale of 1-10 how patient are you and how to deal with angry customers. He was amazed by the responses I gave him and he actually said it. He then set me up for my second interview with the store manager (A Lady), she wasnt very nice and she literally asked me like 2 questions and that was it. Never got the call and I know its because the Lady did not like me...

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 2 days)
One of the best interview processes I've ever experienced. Applied online and received a call 2 weeks later for an interview. Came in and it was a very friendly environment. All the employees were nice and helpful and it definitely helped me relaxed. The 2 people interviewing me were very friendly and upfront. They go me joking around and laughing! It actually was an enjoyable experience. After that interview they wanted me to go to a 1 on 1 with the manager in 2 days. Arrived in 2 days and the manager was also very friendly. The other associates were also friendly to me while I was waiting in the break room. Seemed like a place where I would be liked and very friendly. The manager was more than impressed with me and hired me on the spot! Just wanting for the background check to go through so I can start! Overall great experience, but I guess it was just that one store, I was expecting it to be a bad experience from reviews on here, but the manager really seems to be taking care of that location!

Interviewed May 2011 in Las Vegas, NV (took a day)
I applied online. Was called in for an interview. I met with the store manager and one supervisor. Lasted about 15 minutes. I was told it would be part-time and the pay. I was asked how i would handle a difficult customer i think. Or, multiple customers, I believe it was. It was very easy going and I was nervous having been out of work for some time. They said they'd be in touch within two days after they finished with interviews. I got a call back later that day and was offered the position.

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took 3 days)
Very soon after applying to Ross, I was called on the phone for a quick interview. At the end of the interview, I was asked to come in the next day for a one-on-one interview with the manager. During that face-to-face interview, the manager was impressed by my educational background and offered me a job in the cash office contingent on my background check. I was told that they would not have normally hired me because I was a college graduate, but the store needed somebody intelligent because the current cash office people weren't smart enough to do their job correctly; these two statements in succession put me off greatly, but I accepted the job anyway because I had nothing else at the moment. I noticed that the people who worked there looked very tired, but the store looked impeccably clean up front. Unfortunately, the manager's office and stock area was horribly disorganized.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 1 week)
I applied online and received a phone call about a month later to schedule an interview. The manager that interviewed me was friendly and put me at ease. She asked me to tell her about myself and what I was looking for from the company. She also asked me a couple "on a scale of 1 to 10" questions and explained how the company operated (pay, dress code, benefits, and what would be expected of me). I was scheduled for a second interview a few days later with another manager. This interview was short, about 15 minutes. She asked about my availability and two more of those "scale of 1 to 10" questions and then offered me the position. She told me they were going to submit a background check and to check my email for paperwork. It was almost 3 weeks later until I heard back from them and another week before I came in for orientation.
I do recommend dressing professionally for the interview. The manager made a point of thanking me for dressing properly. Also, be patient. This is not a place that likes you calling every few days to check in.
Another side note, everyone (except security) starts out on the floor despite what you specifically applied for. You start out on the floor and on dressing room duty, then progress to cashier. A few will then be trained for the customer service desk and finally the cash room.
