Interviewed Apr 2012 (took 2 days)
Applied on a Friday, received a call/phone interview the following Monday. I was asked questions on why I applied at Ross, availability, position desired, etc.
At first interview, I was asked the usual retail questions, Why Ross? Example of when you handled an irate customer. Describe a time when you were experienced high customer traffic, and the outcome of how you dealt with it.
They explained the company's business model, which was nice, and advancement opportunities available to me with my past experience.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 2 weeks)
I applied online and got a call back the next day and scheduled the interview. The guy I interviewed with was very nice, and since it was my first interview took it easy on me. He asked normal interview questions, such as How do you handle stress, What would you do if you saw another employee stealing. I got a call back a few days later but wasn't there to answer. I called back 3 days in a row before I was able to contact the manager and he said they were going to do a background check that could take 2 days to 2 weeks. I called several times during that time and at first they said we haven't got the results back yet, and then they said they were making their decisions soon, and then finally they said they were making call backs the next few days. Well they never called back and never gave me an answer when I called so I just decided I was done with it.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Miami, FL (took 3 days)
2 weeks or so after applying I got a call for an interview for the next day, she asked basic questions like availability and experience, told me she decides who gets to go on an interview with her boss and told me to come back 2 days after to interview with him, he asked questions like when is it acceptable to be absent from work (never), a time in which I had an angry customer and how I dealt with it plus other interview q's, let me know it is only a seasonal position with the possibility of becoming permanent, and said he'd make a decision later that night, 2.5 hours later I got a call informing me they are sending me documents to fill out and begin working in one week.
Always look the interviewer in the eye since it shows respect, be comfortable and speak confidently, also answer fast, if you take too long it doesn't look good, it seems like you're inventing your answer on the spot.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Atlanta, GA (took 2 days)
Applied online and got invited for an interview. went in for my first interview and it went well. the guy was so nice and I felt like I was talking to my brother. He asked a series of questions from a pamphlet he had such as on a scale of 1-10 how patient are you and how to deal with angry customers. He was amazed by the responses I gave him and he actually said it. He then set me up for my second interview with the store manager (A Lady), she wasnt very nice and she literally asked me like 2 questions and that was it. Never got the call and I know its because the Lady did not like me...

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 2 days)
One of the best interview processes I've ever experienced. Applied online and received a call 2 weeks later for an interview. Came in and it was a very friendly environment. All the employees were nice and helpful and it definitely helped me relaxed. The 2 people interviewing me were very friendly and upfront. They go me joking around and laughing! It actually was an enjoyable experience. After that interview they wanted me to go to a 1 on 1 with the manager in 2 days. Arrived in 2 days and the manager was also very friendly. The other associates were also friendly to me while I was waiting in the break room. Seemed like a place where I would be liked and very friendly. The manager was more than impressed with me and hired me on the spot! Just wanting for the background check to go through so I can start! Overall great experience, but I guess it was just that one store, I was expecting it to be a bad experience from reviews on here, but the manager really seems to be taking care of that location!

Interviewed May 2011 in Las Vegas, NV (took a day)
I applied online. Was called in for an interview. I met with the store manager and one supervisor. Lasted about 15 minutes. I was told it would be part-time and the pay. I was asked how i would handle a difficult customer i think. Or, multiple customers, I believe it was. It was very easy going and I was nervous having been out of work for some time. They said they'd be in touch within two days after they finished with interviews. I got a call back later that day and was offered the position.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 1 week)
I applied online and received a phone call about a month later to schedule an interview. The manager that interviewed me was friendly and put me at ease. She asked me to tell her about myself and what I was looking for from the company. She also asked me a couple "on a scale of 1 to 10" questions and explained how the company operated (pay, dress code, benefits, and what would be expected of me). I was scheduled for a second interview a few days later with another manager. This interview was short, about 15 minutes. She asked about my availability and two more of those "scale of 1 to 10" questions and then offered me the position. She told me they were going to submit a background check and to check my email for paperwork. It was almost 3 weeks later until I heard back from them and another week before I came in for orientation.
I do recommend dressing professionally for the interview. The manager made a point of thanking me for dressing properly. Also, be patient. This is not a place that likes you calling every few days to check in.
Another side note, everyone (except security) starts out on the floor despite what you specifically applied for. You start out on the floor and on dressing room duty, then progress to cashier. A few will then be trained for the customer service desk and finally the cash room.
