Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Milan (Italy) Feb 2012 – Reviewed Jan 1, 2013
Interview Details – In Milan getting an interview is a lot about knowing someone or having access to a good university jobgate (Bocconi is good for instance). At Rothschild you will get two interviews, and you will talk with one or two juniors at a time. Interviews are quite technical, and they will try to scare you with an unpleasant behaviour.
Interview Question – I had to say if Rothschild was more similar to Credit Suisse or to a consultancy firm, whose name was not familiar to me.. I tried to invent, and managed to cope with the challenge Answer Question
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) Oct 2011 – Reviewed Nov 28, 2012
Interview Details – Application consists of cover letter and CV. Just one round of interviews, thereof one interview with HR and two interviews with bankers. Typical mix of technical questions and personal fit questions. HR interview is about personal fit only (why Rothschild, why Investment Banking, strenghts & weaknesses, walk me through your CV), second interview was with an associate, only technical questions, cases and some brainteasers. Last interview with a VP, he asked again more personal fit questions and what I am going to expect from the internship.
Interview Question – The banker gave me a balance sheet from a real company he covered and asked me to compute enterprise value. Not an extremely hard task but it was unexpected and it is somewhat more difficult than just explaining what enterprise value ist. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – No negotiations.

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Paris (France) Oct 2011 – Reviewed Nov 19, 2012
Interview Details – Interview for an M & A intern position. The interviewers were very unpleasant and kept looking at their mobile phones while I was talking. Invited to second stage but declined due to the very poor impression they gave me.
Interview Question – Tell me more about technology industry multiples. Answer Question
No Offer – Interviewed in Shanghai, Shanghai (China) May 2012 – Reviewed Sep 15, 2012
Interview Details – Applied on-line. Through School's career website. The position is at Shanghai , I simply just submitted my resume and cover letter, got an email when I was in Tokyo, arranged a phone interview next week accordingly, the guy who interviewed me had like 9 years banking experiences straight, the whole process was quite difficult, there is no DCF or accounting or valuation, directly started from "walk me through a M&A, walk me through a LBO".
Interview Question – Really technical heavy, most unexpected question is "tell me which line is the circular reference" Answer Question
