Interviewed Mar 2011 in Gurgaon, Haryana (India) (took 2+ weeks)
The initial round was a telephonic round. the interview lasted for more than an hour in which I was grilled about Java, Unix and SQL. The interviewer was very knowledgeable fellow, the questions were pretty tough and at one time it seemed as if they were hiring me to build a rocket for NASA in Java.
It was followed by two written tests , A Video Conference and a one to one with a project manager all in the same day.
The telephonic and the other interviews were about 10 days apart.
Good experience over all.

Negotiation Details
Yes, I was able to negotiate as I had other offers in hand as well. The HR guys do not budge easily untill you are really special or the project requires you badly. The negotiation would not fetch you a very huge amount of money, the revised offer would be close to what you were offered previously.
Other Details
The interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview, a Group/Panel Interview, an IQ/Intelligence Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Gurgaon, Haryana (India) (took 6 weeks)
RBS interview process was quite methodological. The process started with a prometric type of online test which was weird but was not difficult. Once I cleared it, 2 rounds of telephonic interview followed. The interviews were more focussed on what you have written in resume and looking for instances of what you have done in your past projects. The interviews generally starts with the interviewer's introduction and what they are looking from the profile.
There is generally a f2f interview scheduled before HR round.
My advise would be to very well versed with your resume first and make sure that you dont write anything just for sake. Be ready with all instances to prove what you have written. Ask for complete JD before you apply to understand the profile and skills required and prepare your interviews in advance.

Negotiation Details
I didn't negotiate much as my preferences were more on designation, role and location. However I have heard that RBS is a good paymaster so try to gather your feedback from recruitment agency and then do your negotiation.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Gurgaon, Haryana (India) (took 2 days)
For this role companies mostly focus on architecture and design skills of a person. but here in RBS they start with an online core java test and then core java internals in interview and that too for qualifying to 2nd round... In my view its ridiculous... as these entry level rounds which are used mostly to filter lesser experience profiles should not be qualifying at this level.
