No Offer – Interviewed in Miami, FL Sep 2009 – Reviewed Apr 20, 2010
Interview Details – I applied online and was contacted the following week by the HR recruiter. I went through a screening interview, and was told 100’s of people applied for the position. I was also told my salary requirement was within the recommended range. I went for a face to face with a panel, hiring manager, HR rep. I spent 1 hour in the interview, the questions were typical. If they ask you what the most frustrating experience you have had and how you handled it, lie, they do not like the truth. After 2 weeks, and multiple un-returned calls, I was told they hired internal. I specifically asked if this position was available internally, they said no. Overall, I feel they really never had a position to offer, or, they already had an internal candidate selected, and were going through the motions. They reposted the position 3 weeks later, at 30% below the salary we had spoken about. It was a very disappointing experience, but it has made me more aware for other opportunities for which games are being played.

Interview Details – Expect to speak to six or more people and to be asked to interview on-site at least twice over a period of time and interviewed with eight. TheHR staff is very responsive and genuinely interested in making the right match; they're not gatekeepers, but facilitators. To their credit, each batch of interviews was scheduled so I met with three to four people in succession. Most of the sr. managers I spoke with had worked there 10+ years and were out of touch with the realities of the current job market and other corporate cultures. They weren't sure of exactly what they were looking for since it was a new role- fair enough. The hiring manager though it took over a month, was courteous enough to explain why the candidate selected was the best fit and offered to stay in touch for future opps.
Interview Question – Are organization skills the key to success? Describe a time when organizational and planning skills made you successful. (not the most difficult, but the one I remember - HR rep. asked it). Answer Question

Interview Details – Fairly quick moving at first, but then it slowed down with little communication from the company. First interview was a general phone screen from HR, that was followed by a phone interview with the hiring Finance Manager. Ryder provided good information from the HR group and the Finance interviewer was well prepared and professional. In addition, he provided his contact information for follow up questions. Lacking was any follow-up feedback at the end of the process. Overall it seemed to be well-planned and professional and gave me an overall good impression of the company.

Interview Details –
This was the worst interview I have ever done. It was a phone interview
First of all, it was a "technical" interview and they didn't tell me until a few hours before the interview. Then the interview consisted of questions about excel, statistics, economics. The worst part is that the questions were like how would you do "this", and even though I had made many of those things, he wanted me to explain every step. I am sorry, but I don't memorize everything I do! Moreover, I don't think anyone has to memorize everything as long as you are capable to do it when the time comes (usually checking notes/books).
I have been tested these skills many times before, but instead of asking them thorugh the phone they send you an online test where you have to show the skills. That is the way to do it!
I will always regret the hour I spent speaking with this company.
Interview Question – I wouldn't know which to highlight, in general I thought 80% of the question were pretty stupid. Answer Question

Interview Details –
I applied for this position at Ryder and did not receive any feedback until I got an email asking to do a background check. After my background check was completed and processed, I received a late afternoon email asking me to come in for an interview that next day or the day after. However, scheduling conflicts occurred with the interviewers and I was told that my interview would be rescheduled for the next week. On Monday of the following week, I received an email stating they decided to purse other candidates.
I did speak with a recruiter from the company on the phone, but I never had an official phone interview and because of a "last minute trip", I never got to interview in person.

It takes a long time before you hear anything. When they first called me I almost forgot that I applied, and the process is long. It was three months from app to start date.
First, a long phone interview. Then the first in-person interview, followed by a very long second in-person interview. then you will get a call if they want you or not. Then the probing starts.
Interview Question – What would you do if? lots of that kind of questions. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – They ask what are you looking for...don't bother, they pay you what they want.
