Interviewed May 2011 in Lansing, MI (took 2 weeks)
There is a two-step process when being interviewed to be a Sales Associate/Cashier at Sam's club. You have two 1:1 interviews with 2 different managers who ask you questions mainly about personality and skills. They list off scenarios and you would respond to how you would approach the situation.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Johnson City, TN (took 3 days)
I had just moved to TN and was in dire need of a job. Went online and applied to 20 different places ends up Food City and Sams Club were the only two I heard back from within two weeks. I set up an interview for both but I wanted Sams Club more because I thought ...Better pay, Casual attire and more laid back. Interview was set up for 10. I got there at 9:30 and the hiring manager and I are talking by 9:45 she was very nice asked a bunch of different questions all involving the same thing. A lot of questions about if you were in this situation ... what would you do? Anyways she said that she liked me and I was told to come back two days. The day of my second interview I dressed nice and came early. The 2nd interview person was not there though and I was told to come back at 2 for an interview that was supposed to be at 10. That was not very cool to me because I NEVER GOT A CALL to reschedule.... When 2 rolls around she was LATE seeing me at the interview and gave me some bull crap story why she was late... like I care? She then asked me 5 questions that she read from a paper ... not even looking at me or making eye contact. Kinda like she was hearing me but not listening. Anyways she then told me I needed to take a drug test (driving 5miles to pee in a cup) then when the results came in it would chose if I get the job or not and orientation would start Monday.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
I did't want to get the job because she acted like she didn't care what I had to say, never made eye contact and acted as if I was keeping her from something else she would rather be doing. I also declined because the people at Food City were much nicer to me and listened to what I had to say they made eye contact shook my hand and acted as if they were really paying attention to me. They asked me about hobbies one min and being cross-trained the second. I ended up getting the Food City job the day of the interview. (:

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Memphis, TN (took 3 days)
Put in an application to Sam's early in 2011, took several months to hear back from them. Once I got the call the personnel manager scheduled me for a meeting the next day. Had a brief interview with the personnel manager (nothing serious, checking if my information on my application was still correct) and scheduled a drug test and another meeting in two days. The second trip I met with the member service manager who laid out the requirements of the job (be sure to keep your confidence up during the bit on selling memberships, they aren't looking for just cashiers, they want salespeople) and asked a few generic questions about how I would handle certain situations. She then gave me some paperwork to fill out while I waited on the front end manager to arrive (W-4 and the like). The front end manager asked a few of the same questions and rehashed the importance of selling memberships, then asked if I had any questions for her about the job or the company's procedures. I accepted the job and she scheduled me to come in for orientation (paid) the following Monday.

Negotiation Details
Did not need to negotiate much, I received a decent pay rate for the job and the benefits are predetermined by the company and lined out in brochures. I would recommend putting the desired pay on your application on the higher end (but not ridiculous) when you apply.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Pittsburgh, PA (took 3 days)
The application is a typical retail application online, including a long "personality" type test. I had three interviews with a floor manager, the assistant manager, a brief one with the general manager who told me I had the job. They ask you typical retail job interview questions...how would you handle a difficult customer, tell me how you've handled this type of situation, etc.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Springfield, MO (took 2 weeks)
I applied online for a full-time cashier position at Sam's Club. After 2 weeks, I received a phone call asking me to come in for an interview the following morning. When I arrived, I was rudely "greeted" by a woman in a green vest called a "COS" who looked me up and down and had a very snotty demeanor - I think I was a little overdressed in her eyes, but I was only business casual and despite their Sam's Club dress code of jeans and company issued vests, I simply refuse to show up for an interview in jeans. She led me upstairs to the personnel dept where another lady gave me a sheath of papers. On top was my online application which they printed out. She asked me to verify and update it, which did not take long as 99% of the information was already there. Beneath my application were pages of interview questions, typical stuff like "tell us about a time you worked on a team" and "describe a situation when you planned a project and followed it to completion". I looked over these questions, so when the next employee entered the room to ask me the questions I already had a pretty good idea of how I would answer. She started off by looking through my application and expressed surprise that I had marked "full time" (and 100% availability). She said they do not usually hire full-time cashiers and the position was part-time and seasonal only. That was the first red flag for me as I applied for FULL time and did not check an interest in part-time OR seasonal employment with Sam's Club. She asked if I wanted to proceed with the interview and I asked how many hours part-time cashiers typically work; after her answer of 25-33 and sometimes more during the holiday season, I said yes. She asked me the long questions which seemed to be suited more for an office or management position. I answered them appropriately and then she started to tell me more about the job. She said there would be considerable lifting of 50 lb or so. She said that cashiers have daily quotas for selling Sam's Club memberships, particularly Business and "Plus" memberships. She said, "each day you would come in and we ask "What is your goal for today?" and you tell us so we know that you understand the set quota for your shift". She offered me the job and I declined.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
I was seeking one of 2 things: steady full-time permanent employment, or an easy peasy cashier job to get me through the holiday season. Sam's Club offered neither of these things so I told them I did not believe I would be motivated to meet their goals/quotas described as merely a part-time seasonal employee.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 3 days)
After applying online, I called and made a few face to face appearances to the managers to inquire about the status of my application. They all told me that they would be calling me soon. I was contacted by phone a few days later by the Personnel Department asking me if I could come in for an interview the next day. When I got there, I was interviewed by a supervisor of the front-end department, from there I spoke to an area manager. After that, they told me I was done for the day and that they'd call me soon. I was called the next day and was asked if I could meet with the General Manager for my final interview. I arrived for the interview 15 minutes early--as one always should for an interview--only to be sent to the cafe for 30 minutes. After waiting, the lady who initially interview me told me that the GM had gone to lunch because she thought I wasn't there. I was sent home. The interview was rescheduled for the next day. The manager was fairly apologetic about what had happened the day before. After the interview, I took a drug test. The following week, I started orientation.
