Interviewed Mar 2012 (took a day)
First I had a Phone Interview and 3 day later I was contacted for a 1:1 Interview. The interview was about 40 min with HR and the manager of the division. It was all about my achievement at school and the way I work on a team group. It was a nice interview despite the noise outside the office.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Toronto, ON (Canada) (took 5 days)
No direct application - recruiter saw my profile on the Workopolis site and presented me directly after notifying me of their intent. I then received an initial screening over the phone with HR. Rather pleasant. I was immediately notified of details for subsequent onsite meeting.
Arrived at the office, and had to watch a health and safety video first before being allowed to enter through security. Obviously a very institutional approach, and observation was buttressed by seeing a display next door set up for the company's centennial.
HR onsite interview - very easy, but more engaged and detailed - was followed immediately by interview with hiring manager. I got the feeling the latter was just going through the motions, as start was delayed and it appeared as though her mind was already made up. This was confirmed when she declined to give me her business card at the end of the interview - that is normally a standard courtesy, and HR had already done so.
Rather abrupt rejection notice received the following week by telephone. Even though Lavalin is an engineering company, some lessons in manners would probably be worthwhile for their management.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Croydon, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
Very nice atmosphere and people. The interview consisted of HR Manager and Business Development VP. They explained me the structure of the department and how I would fit there. They also shared with me the plans of the department and company. Later, we discussed my background and relevant achievements related to the job. It took about 1 hour and it was very open and more friendly than typical cold interviews.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Mississauga, ON (Canada) (took 3 weeks)
I received an email notification a few weeks after filling out the application and forwarding my resume. Contacted by HR rep and had a 1:1 phone interview. Very friendly and outgoing and told me all about the company. About week later I was contacted by email/phone regarding coming to office in Mississauga for interview with Engineering Managers. There was three managers who asked the usual questions and afterwards the HR rep told me about salary and benefits.

Negotiation Details
Not much negotiating available. They told me salary and all benefits and RRSP options available which help make the salary sound more reasonable. I'd say fully commit to the RRSP program right away. You learn to live off the amount of paycheck left over and meanwhile the contributions you do make are matched by the company in non-registered savings plan or stock options.

Interviewed Apr 2009 (took 1 week)
Not much to talk about, it was a simple interview where they asked me about myself, what I do, background info and experience. Most of the stuff was already on my resume which was easy to answer. This is a wonderful company to work for it is just hard to get the job since a lot of people are applying.

Interviewed Jun 2008 (took 5 days)
Very easy going people. Sounds like nice to work with. Most interviews here consist of 1 phone interview, then followed by a Group Panel Interview a few days later, which is dependent upon how the phone interview went. You luck may vary vary depending on your experience and your personality. Make sure to be open and have excellent communication skills.
