Very Easy Interview
I applied in-person and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Safeway in June 2013.
Interview Details – They lost my application for a month, then there was basically no interview. They just jumped in and assumed that I was accepting the job that they had not technically offered me yet.
Negotiation Details – Convincing me that everyone disliked the union, but it was a necessary evil.

Interview Details – I applied for the position and I call for the interview, the manager was attentive great place to work. I got in the interview and the questions weren't difficult to answer.

I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Safeway in August 2012.
Interview Details – Come in on day of interview they ask about previous employers and your experience, what department you would like to work in, gave a oral drug test, mouth swab, results are given to you within 5 minutes if you passed they ask for your information for direct deposit and sign up up, and tell you that your train begins with in three days of your interview

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Safeway in October 2013.
Interview Details – I heard about an entry level opportunity at Safeway through a family friend. I was contacted by a hiring manger via email about setting up a phone interview to tell me about the Promotion Specialist position and ask me questions. I talked with the hiring manger on the phone a few days later and was asked basic questions about my previous jobs and my analytical skills. I was given more specific information about the position, but was then told that the position was not currently open. The hiring manager told me to fill out an application online because the position opens up "all the time."
Interview Question – How can your strengths benefit your performance in this job? Answer Question
I applied online and the process took 8 weeks - interviewed at Safeway in December 2012.
Interview Details – went back 3 times, manager submitted for approval, took a few weeks but it was approved. interview was smooth, no surprises. asked me about experience and my goals with the company.
Interview Question – realistically, there was no difficult or unexpected question. the manager liked my resume and sent it to headquarters to see if i would fit in the main office. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – there were no negotiations. the manager explained the job and pay and that was it. the only negotiation was whether i would accept the job.
I interviewed at Safeway in November 2011.
Interview Details – Worked my way up through the stores over a many years period. The interviews I was involved in were very "canned" interviews like out of a book of questions to ask. Same questions were involved in different interviews. Long wait time to find out results.
Interview Question – What you would do in various situations and in the past what was the outcome. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – Very straight forward, what I expected.

Interview Details – Phone pre-screening to discuss top level experience. Then formal interview scheduled. An hour is scheduled and you should show up about 10-15 mins early. Give yourself enough time as parking can sometimes be a challenge. The interview is setup with 5-6 questions that are structures "Give and example of a time when... Tell me what you did, what the process was, what the outcome was, and what you learned from it." It is important that you hit all these points. They may ask a follow up question of give me another example. Then at the end there is an opportunity to ask them some questions as well. This is encouraged.
