Accepted Offer – Interviewed in San Francisco, CA Nov 2012 – Reviewed Jan 22, 2013
Interview Details –
I submitted my resume online via salesforce.com. I was contacted by a recruiter within a couple days who scheduled a phone screen with me. Once I passed the phone screen, I scheduled a call with one of the senior managers where we talked about my work and process for a little over an hour.
The senior manager recommended me to a specific team and the recruiter scheduled a day long on site interview. The visit began with a portfolio presentation to approximately 12 team members, some of who were onsite and others on the GoToMeeting. This was followed by a series of 2:1 hour long interviews that were a mix of GoToMeeting and in person. I met with other designers, researchers, product managers and engineers.
Everyone was very kind and accommodating and wanted to make sure I was comfortable during the process. I mention that because I've been through many day long interviews and it's common for people to forget how grueling they can be. I thought it was very indicative of the culture.
Interview Question – The question that impressed me the most was when I was asked how trust is important in a product. That question launched into a great conversation that was very telling of the culture at Salesforce. Otherwise there were a lot of questions about my process, how I interact with a team and how I made various decisions. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – The recruiter was quick to follow up and I had a verbal offer within a couple of days. It was a very solid offer, but I was able to negotiate a little bit more. Once we agreed on the numbers, they sent an offer letter. They moved very quickly, perhaps because they knew I had a couple other companies I was speaking with.
Other Details - I applied online and the process took 6 weeks.
