I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Schlumberger in October 2014.

    Interview Details

I went to an international career fair on campus and I talked to the SLB recruiter and I gave him my résumé. He requested me to apply online so he can get the application so he can process it for the first interview. The interview was done two days after the initial meeting on campus and pretty much went well. I was basically asked some general questions about my résumé and if I was interested in the position applied. I was told then I was nominated for the second interview in Texas. About two weeks prior to the interview I was sent some documentations to fill out and sign. Flying and accommodation is covered by the company. One week before the interview, I was sent an agenda for what we will do during the second interview session. My interview will be next week so hopefully everything will go smoothly! I haven't offered anything yet so that's why I answered NO to the question below! I will know by next week and hopefully I will get hired!

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Schlumberger in October 2014.

    Interview Details

I had an on-campus interview with Schlumberger in which we discussed my past experiences and went over basic behavioral/interest questions. I connected well with the interviewer; she had a similar research background and enjoyed her time at Schlumberger.

I was invited to interview in Sugar Land (Houston), Texas, for positions in REMS - Research, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sustaining. At the interview I was asked to give a 7-minute presentation (10 slides or fewer) explaining a technical project to Schlumberger leadership with a few minutes of questions. Afterward, I had 4 one-on-one interviews with managers from across Schlumberger REMS.

One day later I received an offer for a position in Houston within the Engineering group with two weeks to respond.

    Interview Questions
    • The interviewer placed a couple drawings on the desk and asked me to describe the function of the device. What was the material? Where would there be a possibility of mechanical failure? Then, he clarified the purpose of the machinery and asked what design considerations were important. He specifically asked me about design alterations or choices that catered to my background (thermal fluids).   View Answer
    Reasons for Declining

I was nervous about becoming just a "number" in a massive company. I was skeptical about the rigid and impersonal advancement process. I felt the recruitment process was very one-sided. Upon receiving the offer, I knew nothing about the potential team or technology that I would be working with. I was offered a position based on Schlumberger's needs, not necessarily my interests.

    Very basic behavior interview questions:
    Example for problem solving
    Example to take the lead
    Career development question:
willingness to go on the field
The interviewers will not give out their contact info, so there is pointless to follow up

Initial contact seemed to go smooth from an info session I attended at an on-campus recruiting, and I was contacted for an interview. This interview experience may not apply to everyone, but my interviewer was not very friendly or eager to find out about me. This quickly created a very uncomfortable atmosphere, and becoming worse with everything I said in regards to her question, about myself, etc. I had thought I said my words very carefully, but the response felt I received was something of indifference and discontent, but I think she was just tired and did not care too much.
As a result I made mistakes on easy technical questions that I usually would have gotten.

The interview was a weekend long process. A group of about 20 interviewees were flown out for the weekend. We were split up into five groups ahead of time and told to create a presentation based on the topic they assigned us. When we first arrived we spent the entire afternoon and evening giving presentations, being asked questions, and then being given the same presentation from the Schlumberger perspective. We were kept up until about 2:30 am and then we were told we needed to be ready to catch the bus to visit a job site at 7:30 am. After the job site tour we were given a presentation on the job benefits package and then we all had individual exit interviews. The entire weekend was extremely informative.

Flown out to Bakersfield, CA. They keep you in a hotel and spend days interviewing, describing what they do and showing you the types of work they have out there. Very up front and blunt about the job hours and requirements, but in a helpful way. offered 60,000 to do open hole wireline

Initial communications were very clear and professional. I received a call from the recruiter following our in-person conversation at a career fair. Several weeks from then I received a call from an actual employee and was interviewed for a specific position. Then I attended the recruitment day where along with other candidates. Each of us delivered a technical presentation, we also played several team-building games.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 6 weeksinterviewed at Schlumberger in September 2014.

    Interview Details

I was contacted by a staffing agency that ran across my resume on Monster. I had two phone interviews and the next day I was invited to an Hiring event in Midland, Tx. Be sure to get plenty of rest because the first day will be a long one. After arriving at the airport in Midland, Tx a van picked us up by groups. We arrived at the hotel, went to our respected rooms, got a bite to eat and then we prepared for the group setting later on that night. At this event we learn tons of info about the company and the position. Be sure to ask as many questions as possible because this job is a huge responsibility and lifestyle change. We were granted the opportunity to introduce ourselves and later mingle with other SLB employees to get a better gauge of what we should expect. This event lasted until 10:30pm and then we were invited downstairs to talk with some of the managers at the bar. The next morning we went to breakfast, toured the facility and then they conducted panel style interviews. After the interview you will be taken back the the airport to go home. Everything was great and they made sure we were as comfortable as possible. If you make it to this point, you have a great chance of getting the job.

I had experienced four steps until I got my offer. First, on the career fair, introduce yourself and hand on the resume. Second, you are asked to accomplish a paper test. Then you will have the group interview. At last, a group task
