Interviewed Aug 2011 in Pullman, WA (took 4 months)
Several months after applying I received a request for a phone interview. This interview was with a young HR employee, who unfortunately did not have knowledge of my industry. I am very knowledgeable of my industry, but her follow up questions led me to believe she misunderstood many of my answers. I'm pretty sure I should have stuck with "yes" or "no" answers. She was nice and professional, but uninformed. She could not answer any of my questions. When she asked what salary I expected, I mentioned the range I had in mind for the area and the work. I asked what their range was, and she said "as you know, SEL does not disclose salary information to candidates". I didn't know, but it's worth letting future candidates know. I did not feel at the end of the hour that she had a good feel for my qualifications. Probably my fault, as I started the interview with the assumption that I was speaking to someone in the industry.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Pullman, WA (took a day)
I was interviewed by SEL on-campus. The interviewer seemed to be a senior level person with a lot of experience up the sleeve. I was not sure how to prepare well, expecting an HR interview. It turned out to be very technical and I was given a sheet of basic circuit questions to solve, to begin with. It was rather unexpected, but I think I did pretty well, except for the time. They only gave me about 9 minutes to solve 5 questions and I wasn;t able to finish all of them, sadly. He was nice about it and said there actually was only one person to crack all five. Then I was interviewed about my projects at the university and I was also asked what department I would prefer to work for. I was not able to give a specific answer and I never heard back from them.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Pullman, WA (took 3 weeks)
Applied online and received request for phone interview within a week. The phone interview with HR consisted of general experience/goals questions and some knowledge level questions. A second phone interview was conducted by several people from the hiring group, but the hiring manager was unavailable. Questions during the second interview consisted of situational questions about how I would react in certain scenarios. They then set up an on-site interview and I gave a 20-minute presentation followed by a fairly intense technical interview. The hiring manager showed up 1/2 way through the presentation, asked a number of questions about my knowledge of power engineering (which is poor), and had to leave before I could ask questions about the job. The other interviewers were very helpful and professional, although slightly disorganized. I left feeling that the hiring manager and the other interviewers had very different goals for the position and weren't communicating very well. After a benefits review, HR said they'd be in touch in a few days.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Pullman, WA (took 1+ week)
I applied online and got a call from one of the HR person in about two weeks to set up a phone interview. During the phone interview, I was ask questions on basic circuit theories, such as finding the voltage across a resistor. After the phone interview, I was schedule for another phone interview with three people, one of them being my future supervisor and the other two being my peers. This interview consists of more technical questions and lasted about 50 minutes. After that, I was invited to an on-site interview, which I was told that I have to give a presentation that lasts about 20-30 minutes. During the day of the on-site interview, I had breakfast with the hiring manager, a tour of the manufacturing facility, which is huge, a technical session, lunch, talked to the R&D manager for about 30 minutes, another round of technical interview, then benefits review, and was offered the job during the closing meeting with the hiring manager and HR rep.
Overall, I enjoyed the on-site interview, everyone was nice and friendly and you can ask questions at any point. It is a privately owned company, and the people there are definitely more motivated than people I've seen elsewhere.

Interviewed Nov 2011 (took a day)
First human resources called to schedule a phone interview. The interview lasted about 40 minutes, but I guess it depends on how quickly you answer the questions. First she asked your average interview questions, then asked about 4 technical questions, such as: find the voltage across this resistor in this circuit, or give some technical equation. She was really professional.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 2 weeks)
Interviewed for a senior level software engineering position. They required that I create and present a 30 minute presentation on the subject of my choice. The day before the presentation, the software team manager told me he didn't like my subject choice and that I needed to choose another. According to the instructions and the interview agenda, the 30 minute presentation was to be followed by 20-30 minutes of questions. Instead two members of the interview panel constantly interrupted to ask questions during the presentation, which caused the presentation to go overtime.
During the technical questions portion of the interview, almost all of the questions were EE related questions even though the position I was applying for was purely software engineering. The same two that kept interrupting the presentation were the ones that were asking the EE questions.
There was no programming skills test.
The overall interview was very frustrating with the two panel members being both rude and condescending when I chose not to try to answer their EE questions and inquired whether they were going to ask any meaningful software related questions.
