Negotiation Details
The initial salary offer was for $1.00 less then I was currently making. Since this was a position in an area that I really wanted,,, and entailed a lot of training. I just requested that S&W match my current salary. Which they did.
Other Details
The interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Temple, TX (took 4+ weeks)
I contacted the director of the department through an e-mail asking for career opportunities in their department. I also sent my resume for his review. He replied to my e-mail if I would like to talk to him. We scheduled an appointment to talk about potential career opportunities in his/her department. During our phone conversation, he asked me about my career goals and and if I was interested in a post doc position. I readily for his offer because this place would give a good head start to my career. After a month, they arranged for a presentation and 1:1 interview with his/her team. The presentation and interview went very well. In my 1:1 interview, all interviewers were assessing my potential as a researcher, and what are my goals for the post doc position. I asked them questions about their previous post doc fellows and their plans for my fellowship- how will I benefit from this fellowship. After 4 days, my primary interviewer e-mailed me stating that the department is interested in offering me the position. The next day, HR called me and told me how much they will be offering me as a stipend. Not so happy with the pay offered by S&W, I wrote him an e-mail asking few more questions about his plans for me. After I received answers to my questions, I have started negotiating my pay with the HR.
