Interviewed Apr 2012 (took 3 days)
After filling out the online application, the applicant must show up to Sea World to complete a reading comprehension test. There are four pages to read and six questions to answer correctly. If you miss even one question, you fail and can not apply again for six months. If you pass then you are immediately scheduled for a microphone presentation test. You can choose what day you want to come back, if you have applied early enough. You are given a three page packet of information about tide pools. You must not memorize and repeat back, however you are assigned the task of making a 3 minute presentation of your interpretation of the information you received. On the day of the presentation, you will be allowed to bring note cards. All who are scheduled to present will be taken to a nearby aquarium to stay in while all the presenters take turns coming out to give their presentation. The applicant will stand up in a raised area slightly above the tide pool to give their 3 minute presentation. Across the tide pool is two employees sitting in director chairs with clipboards and paper to take notes. They will tell you to put on the microphone headset that is laying on the ground and will warn you when you have spoken two minutes and then again when you have 30 seconds left to wrap it up. There are many distractions while you are speaking. Even though the park is closed to the public, there are employees walking around cleaning and sometimes using loud machines to clean the tide pool as a presenter is speaking. If the group is large and has taken too long to give their presentations, the park will have an employee standing guard to direct visitors away from the tide pool area while presentations are still going on. The last presenters will be distracted by this as well. The microphone tends to sound like it has stopped working as you speak, so that is distracting as well.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in San Angelo, TX (took a day)
I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment but had to wait 1 1/2 hours to be interviewed because they were having computer issues. Asked four questions and was offered a job on the spot. Gave me a choice of two restaurants that they needed to fill. Had to fill out a 2-3 page packet after then fill out a (roughly) 10 page packet on the computer which was mostly typing my name at the bottom and entering the date. Interviewer was very friendly but only new info about the position because of some friends that worked in it. Then went to a quick drug test (hair sample) and was fitted for uniforms.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Orlando, FL (took 2 days)
Applied online and within 30 minutes was called and asked if I would like to interview. About a week later I went in for my 1:1 interview with the manager of the Photo Department. I was asked very difficult questions. I have never had an interview like this before. I do not remember the exact questions but I remember they were geared towards past situations at previous jobs and not about yourself. After the 1:1 they hired me on the spot, pending my background check and drug test. I went for my drug test right after the interview, where they cut out chunks of my hair. Needless to say I passed everything and went in for orientation where you learn about the company, receive dates for further training in your department, your uniform and meet other employees.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Orlando, FL (took a day)
Hiring process is fairly simple and easy. Apply online to an open position, if you meet the needs of what they are looking for in a candidate you will receive a phone call from a member of their human resources team. They will tell you a little bit more about the job as well as ask you about your previous work experience if you have any. They will also tell you that they require a drug test, backround check, and fingerprints all which are done on site. They then will ask you to set up and appointment to come in for a face to face interview. At the face to face interview it was the original member of human resources that contacted me as well as another person who I believe was going to be joining the human resources team and was just observing the interview process. The interview was pretty basic, nothing too technical just basicall asked why did you want to work for sea world, and some scenario questions that had to do with previous jobs. For example "Tell me a situation where you were doing a task at work and got interupted. What was the task, what interuption took place, how did you handle the situation, etc... Another question was dealing with a co-worker and a conflict came up. Again nothing too technical pretty basic questions. Just be yourself and you'll be fine. All of the workers in the Human Resources are super friendly and very personable and tend to bring out the best in you. Which is something you want especially when going to an interview is your interviewer being very outgoing and friendly.
