Interviewed Feb 2010 in Hoffman Estates, IL (took 4+ weeks)
I was recommended by one VP, in another division that didn't have any jobs available, to a VP in another division. The HR rep scheduled a series of one-on-one interviews with upper level management at Headquarters, from 8 am to noon. I was asked to fill out on online application. Their online application system is horrible. The first time I tried to fill it out, it timed me out and since it doesn't ask you to register and create an account, I had to start all over again! No information had been saved. This happened a number of times. The online application was ridiculously long. I eventually kept the answers in a Word page doc to "hurry up" the process so that I wouldn't get timed out. The day of the interview, for the most part, was pretty good. Most of the people I interviewed with were very honest about the job - very frustrating, long hours, micromanagement, never enough resources, no support, etc. I appreciated that they were warning me about what I would be getting in to, but I was unemployed and I didn't care. Then the person who was supposed to interview me from 10:30 to 11:15 didn't show up, so I just sat in the conference room and waited. The VP that I would have reported to was last and was scheduled from 11:15 to 12:00. He showed up, said he had a few phone calls to make, and stood outside of the conference room making phone calls. When he did interview me, he had a lot of open-ended questions, but they were definitely leading questions. When I provided any solutions that were customer-centric, he literally scoffed. Then he said, "Oh, you don't mind if I keep you past 12 do you?" Again, unemployed, so I said, "No." He also admitted that he hadn't read my resume, and didn't have a copy with him. I didn't have a copy either... I'd never had to give one to an interviewer, they always have it in front of them, with questions already written down. He chastised me for not having a copy of my resume. I didn't chastise him for not taking the time to prepare for an interview... He then said normally he would have read my resume, because he would have been the one to determine if I was qualified, not a VP from another division... So apparently I didn't have a chance and my day had been wasted.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in La Jolla, CA (took 1 week)
It was a pretty simple interview. One of my Army friends worked in the department and referred me. I basically went into the office and chatted with a manager for 15 minutes and was offered the job.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 5 days)
After I applied online, I received a phone call from the supervisor of Fine Jewelry three days after. The lady asked me if I would like to work for the Fine Jewelry department and if I was able to work on the week-ends. After I answered her yes, we set up an interview two days later.
So, I sat there waiting for my interviewer to meet me in the HR, but I somehow managed to talked to another supervisor instead because she was busy with another person who came later than I did. Anyways, the interview went by real quick. The lady was very lax, easygoing and somewhat easy to amuse. I told her why I wanted to work for Sears and some of my volunteering experience. Later, she went outside and came back with paperwork and asked me if I wanted the job.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Pune (India) (took a day)
First of all HR people seems to be very very bad at speaking english. No manners. and technical interviewer was like having having fix set of questions and answers. if you try to give practical answers his face expression tell he didn't understand answer so please you need to give bookish answer only. All questions can be found in websites he just copied them and was asking. I recommend please don't join this company as you will find lots of stupid people around you.
Reason for Declining
Got a chance to talk with friend already working in company. She highly recommended not to join this company at any cost as everybody in company is frustrated because of Management.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Denver, CO (took 4 months)
I went through the whole testing and interview process in June, but only heard back from them yesterday - 4 months later - this time they asked a couple of questions and requested another resume, which I sent. They did not seem to realise I had already interviewed in June, so I let them know that I had, but that I would be happy to interview again. Instead of bringing me in for another interview, today I got an e-mail telling me they hired someone else. I was not really happy with my interview experience, but I am glad that they did give me a shot.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took a day)
I received a call a day right after I did the application, you get an automatic interview upon completion of application, the next day I was sitting in their HR office when I was called in for a one on one with one of the HR workers, she then told me that the position I applied for was not available so I was offered the Receiving Associate position, the Receiving supervisor was then called in and I conducted the interview with her, both interviews were very short, they consisted of reviewing you application, asking you questions about your answers on the application. Shortly after both interviews I met the store manager and began my final interview, the store manager was a very polite man, the interview consisted of various scenarios and what your response would be, you are then asked the same questions from your application again. I was hired almost immediately after leaving his office.

I was told to go to the wrong store for the interview. I was never told how much the pay was until 1 week after I started. They also never disclosed how incompetent and inept the company was.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took a day)
I came into the HR room five minutes early, which they didn't like. The woman interviewing me took a while to come in, but finally she sat me down in a room and asked me very simple questions. Every question I would sneak in some achievement of mine so by the end she was very excited about me. Next, a manager came in and interviewed me. His questions were so ridiculous, I couldn't believe they were part of the interview. He said that most people don't even get to him since the first interview woman is really strict with candidates. They seemed nice, I won't really be dealing them with work though.
They skipped the drug test for me and the background check, although it is mandatory.
The only pain was that I had to come in the next day and enter my bank account info and then I changed accounts the next weekend and now I have to wait two weeks until I can renter my bank info in the system, so I won't be getting paid for a while!

Interviewed May 2011 in Palm Springs, CA (took a day)
I arrived early and feeling confident. Met with the interviewer and went to her office. Even though I stated on my online application I can only work until 6pm, due to lack of transportation (where I live, the only bus that's in my city stops running at 7:30pm), I was required to work until the mall closed, which was 9pm. The interviewer knew about the bus and how it runs, but didn't try to make an exception or even give me the hours I requested. I had to decline.
