Very Easy Interview
I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Sears in March 2013.
Interview Details – This company uses online interview as the inital process. THis is a cool tool because it is innovative and it gives a chance for management to get a good view of the candidate prior to moving on with the interview. It shows that they are valuing their time. It is not necessarily the best value for candidate time though since they will ask for you to complete on short notice.
Interview Question – What is your weakness. Answer Question
I applied online and the process took 6 weeks - interviewed at Sears in December 2013.
Interview Details – This was a fairly short process, only prolonged due to the fact that it extended through the holidays. I had an initial phone interview with the recruiter to establish salary requirements and the like, then a phone interview with the hiring manager. I heard back within a week that they were interested in meeting me in person. I had the in person interviews on a Tuesday and received the offer that Friday. I met 1:1 with every person who is on the team I will be joining. The amenities at headquarters are impressive. The atmosphere seemed relaxed, happy, and enthusiastic. Gave a great impression.
Interview Question – Nothing difficult, this was pretty straight forward, and always pleasant. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – I received a fair offer. I did ask for a little more than the initial offer and they met me in the middle. Pleasant process.
Very Difficult Interview
I applied through other source and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at Sears in September 2013.
Interview Details – It's easy to get in the door, but it's even harder to move up. If you are not a good interviewer then you will not move up, so be prepared.

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Sears in October 2013.
Interview Details – Applied online after completing a short questionnaire and skill assessment (virtual in store iPad). A week later i received an email inviting me to an interview and received a phone call confirming. Interview was fairly quick although they were 30 mins late to start (Which I hear is normal). Asked the basic interview questions, have you done this type of work before, reliable transportation, and what your old employers would say about your work ethic. I was hired on the spot and told to look for an email with the next step in the process. The emails just set me up with a background check, drug test, and the official paperwork for sears i.e. W-2's and what not. I'd say about a week later I was brought in for orientation and trained, then went back for my first shift.
Interview Question – There was nothing to difficult considering the position, just make sure you can handle a typical interview and you should be good. Answer Question
I applied through a staffing agency and interviewed at Sears.
Interview Details – I was called by a Director-level person on first week of this month. I should say that the call went pretty good and I was able to answer all the questions. However, I would like to mention that the interviewer was totally NOT professional. I guess the company is coming to a close and these director-level ppl are just distressed.
Reason for Declining – The company is not doing well and we are hearing about lay-offs
I applied through a staffing agency and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Sears.
Interview Details – Staffing agency contacted me to schedule a panel/group interview. 4 applicants including myself were placed in front of 4 Buyers during the interview process. A variety of questions were asked such as, "What was a difficult situation you were able to turn around?" or "How do you go about working with different personalities than your own?" After the panel/group interview, if any of the Buyers liked you, they would call your name for an individual interview right then and there.
