Interviewed Jun 2011 (took a day)
I received a call a day right after I did the application, you get an automatic interview upon completion of application, the next day I was sitting in their HR office when I was called in for a one on one with one of the HR workers, she then told me that the position I applied for was not available so I was offered the Receiving Associate position, the Receiving supervisor was then called in and I conducted the interview with her, both interviews were very short, they consisted of reviewing you application, asking you questions about your answers on the application. Shortly after both interviews I met the store manager and began my final interview, the store manager was a very polite man, the interview consisted of various scenarios and what your response would be, you are then asked the same questions from your application again. I was hired almost immediately after leaving his office.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Mesa, AZ (took 5 days)
I was told to go to the wrong store for the interview. I was never told how much the pay was until 1 week after I started. They also never disclosed how incompetent and inept the company was.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took a day)
I came into the HR room five minutes early, which they didn't like. The woman interviewing me took a while to come in, but finally she sat me down in a room and asked me very simple questions. Every question I would sneak in some achievement of mine so by the end she was very excited about me. Next, a manager came in and interviewed me. His questions were so ridiculous, I couldn't believe they were part of the interview. He said that most people don't even get to him since the first interview woman is really strict with candidates. They seemed nice, I won't really be dealing them with work though.
They skipped the drug test for me and the background check, although it is mandatory.
The only pain was that I had to come in the next day and enter my bank account info and then I changed accounts the next weekend and now I have to wait two weeks until I can renter my bank info in the system, so I won't be getting paid for a while!

Interviewed May 2011 in Palm Springs, CA (took a day)
I arrived early and feeling confident. Met with the interviewer and went to her office. Even though I stated on my online application I can only work until 6pm, due to lack of transportation (where I live, the only bus that's in my city stops running at 7:30pm), I was required to work until the mall closed, which was 9pm. The interviewer knew about the bus and how it runs, but didn't try to make an exception or even give me the hours I requested. I had to decline.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 1 week)
Applied online on a Weds., and usually they'll have you set up an interview, but I actually had to call them to set one up. Got an interview for Mon. with the HR Manager, it was really laid back. There weren't that many questions, they were just weird "Describe a situation when..." questions. Immediately after the first interview she gave me a date for a second interview (Weds.) with the cashier manager and told me a time to be there. Second interview was just as easy, he asked similar but different situational questions, like the "Name three things that prevent you from shopping online." and "What if a customer came to you with those situations?". Just as easy as the first. Immediately after the second interview I filled out my W-4 and posted my bank information (they direct deposit your checks), and then the HR Manager had me sign everything verifying it's true, and then she gave me a form to take to a local clinic for a pre-employment drug test, and also a work permit to get signed (I'm under 18). The pre-employment drug test has to be taken with EXACTLY 24 hours of whenever you're told about it. Also, if you're a minor your parent/legal guardian has to accompany you. The work permit, however, just has to be filed with the DOL before you can work, so no time limit on that. Then I was told that orientation days are on Saturdays and that I'll get a call from the HR Secretary telling me when to come in for one.

Negotiation Details
I'm not sure if the pay is negotiable, but my hourly wage is $10.25 an hour, which is about 3 dollars above minimum wage here.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Schaumburg, IL (took 2 weeks)
I was refered by a friend to apply for the position. I was then contacted via phone for a 30 min prescreen interview. A week later I was scheduled for a one on one interview with the assistant store manager. I sat down with the ast manager, I gave her my resume, she sat there for a few minutes and did not ask any questions. So I opened up the discussion about my qualifications, which I felt I was over qualifed for, having a B.S. in Exercise Science and eight years in the Fitness Industry, multiple sales awards, eight years management experience. She still was not asking any of the tipical questions that would be on an interview, so I began asking questions that I had prepaired. She was not very informative about the department and had no basic knowlege about revenues generated per square foot, what challeges or opportunities for improvements there were. Needless to say I was not impressed. About a month ago I had applied for an Assistant Store Manager position with the same company and was not even accepted for an interview. I now sit in front of an Ast Manager with 34 years in the company who is suppose to be asking me challenging questions.I was thinking to my self, here is a person who is in a position that I was denied an interview for and I was the one running the interview. Not a company that I want to work for!!!!!

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Jacksonville, FL (took 4+ weeks)
Interview Process was pretty easy if you understand how to manager people and what is important in Loss Prevention. If you do not, they will see through the BS. You need strong interview skills for this position and its a lot of travel. A lot of hate and discontent from ops side. Each DM wants you in their area every day. Upper management plays favorites and does not promote based on performance.

Interviewed May 2011 (took 3 days)
Interview consisted of 1 phone interview and 3 1:1 interviews. Overall the interview was pretty textbook basic. "Why do u want to work for sears?", "Tell me a time you provided great customer service. Overall the interview process was pretty easy and the manager gave a great overview of the job requirements.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Everett, WA (took 2 days)
I went in 15 minutes early, the HR area is not labelled, so I had to ask where it was. When I arrived, I had several people ask me who I was there for. The cashier manager came and we went into a little office. She was very nice and professional. She asked me the usual interview questions. Then she went to get her manager. She came back and asked if I could come back either later that day or the next day to have a second interview with her manager. She said she didn't realize her manager was busy in meetings all that day. I told her the next day would work for me.I went to the 2nd interview and it was very relaxed...the manager asked me a few questions and hired me. Now I just have to wait for the drug/background check to come back....I wonder how long it will take? Waiting is the hardest part...then I call them back and they tell me someone with my name and DOB in a state I have never set foot in has a bad check charge and so they won't hire me. Not matched on SSN or anything...the system they use...HireRight...they should be sued for defamation. I have never been so offended.
