Sales Associate at Sears

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Knoxville, TN Nov 2012 – Reviewed Jan 11, 2013

Interview Details – Hiring process was pretty simple. After filling out the application I was called in for an interview with one of the managers. She then proceeded to ask me about my previous work history and then quizzed me on some "what if?" scenarios. However, coming from retail these were easily answered.

Then after that interview I sat down with the assistant store manager for a follow-up interview with him. He then asked if I still was interested and then asked a bit about myself and asked a few more "what if" scenarios. At the end I was offered a job on the spot.

Interview Question – Nothing was very difficult or unexpected. However, always have a good explanation how you would handle a disgruntled customer. Also, have a good response to "What is your biggest challenge while working in retail?"   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Did not do any negotiating. The pay was a bit lower than I wanted but being a holiday job I felt no need to push the issue to much.

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Portland, OR Nov 2009 – Reviewed Dec 9, 2012

Interview Details – They used a STAR format. It was very casual and very easy. As long as you act professional you should be fine, just be yourself. You know about jobs these days you gotta shine bright like a diamond.

Interview Question – The one where they ask how you work in a team. I was wondering what would relate well to this questions since I had never worked in a team in my life so I just ended up saying that something happened with my family, you got to be able to relate to others they love that.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – I got a job as a server.
