Declined Offer – Interviewed in Portland, OR Nov 2009 – Reviewed Dec 9, 2012
Interview Details – They used a STAR format. It was very casual and very easy. As long as you act professional you should be fine, just be yourself. You know about jobs these days you gotta shine bright like a diamond.
Interview Question – The one where they ask how you work in a team. I was wondering what would relate well to this questions since I had never worked in a team in my life so I just ended up saying that something happened with my family, you got to be able to relate to others they love that. Answer Question
Reason for Declining – I got a job as a server.

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Santa Rosa, CA Nov 2012 – Reviewed Nov 9, 2012
Interview Details – Very basic questions. This was my first "real" interview, so I was nervous, but was able to answer every question somewhat coherently. During the first two interviews, there were really no "unexpected" questions. They were mostly basic customer service experience questions, designed to sort through those who will not be good with customers.
Interview Question –
I was asked to sell the manager a ballpoint pen. I should have been expecting to have to sell something, but it did catch me off guard. For the record, he bought what I sold!
Remember to smile during the interviews! It seems like such an obvious suggestion, but the girl who was interviewed prior to me wore an expression as if she had a nasty smell emanating from her upper lip. Smiling goes a long way in customer service!
Also, dress appropriately. Even though it is a retail job, I chose to wear a suit, which gave the impression that I care about the interview and the job itself.

No Offer – Interviewed in Phoenix, AZ Jul 2012 – Reviewed Sep 3, 2012
Interview Details – I applied online after I saw the "now hiring" sign. They sent me an e-mail in a couple of days, and scheduled an interview for me, but I didn't see the e-mail, so I missed it. I called back and scheduled another interview, they were pretty good about this, they didn't get mad or anything. I went in at the scheduled time, almost missed the office, it was hidden in the exercise department, and waited for them to call me in. They did, the Asst. Manager was very nice and understanding, he told me about the process, what the job would be like and all of the pay and benefits info. The interview was easy enough, just your standard q&A, he just had to fill out a form. He said that he would tell the Manager to do the second interview, which meant I would be called in AGAIN, to be interviewed by the full manager. I never got called back or e-mailed back.
Interview Question – Tell us about a time you went above and beyond your own expectations. Answer Question

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Joplin, MO Jun 2012 – Reviewed Aug 9, 2012
Interview Details –
This was, without a doubt, the most horifying job interview I ever could have imagined. I showed up on time; I was told that the manager holding my interview, Manny Cordoba, would be with me in a few minutes. About fifteen minutes later he showed up with several other employees, saw that I was there, and then proceeded to hold a ten minute meeting, making me wait. I would have left and not returned if I had known it was him.
When I finally got in, I was shut in a small room with him. He intimidated me into agreeing to work earlier and later. He was not friendly at all and very cold. Several times he made me feel very unintelligent. As it was an interview, I was prepared to answer questions about myself, but was shocked when he started rambling about comission sales, how employees are required to have have a 30% sales rate on Sears cards, and other absurd store ideals that are certainly contributing to the demise of the franchise.
Overall, he was a highly unpleasant individual, and I recall wondering at the time how on Earth he had weasled his way into a management position with this attitude. When he finished his interview, he told me that I had to do two more interviews, and that my second interview would follow the first.
The woman that interviewed me next was friendly and warm, a stark contrast from that neanderthal of a man that had interoggated me. Unfotunately, he'd put a sour taste in my mouth, and I wanted nothing to do with the company. I was scheduled for a third interview the next day even though I showed that I was not interested. I cancelled the next day, and thanked the good lord above for letting me dodge a bullet.
Interview Question – There were plenty of absurd questions, but one that stumped me was whether or not I would be interested in doing comission sales. I had no idea what they were at the time, and given the scoundrel's attitude, I had no intentions of asking. Answer Question
Reason for Declining – The management was clearly cold, arrogant, and snide.
Declined Offer – Interviewed in Manchester, NH Jun 2012 – Reviewed Jul 30, 2012
Interview Details – After completing the online application and assesment, a list of interview times came up, I selected my interview time and it was scheduled. I met with one woman, was never told her position and she asked some questions from a form and she spoke about several different positions available. She then had me meet with a department manager who asked some questions and then took me on a tour of the store. We went back to the office and the first woman asked for my license and SS card for my I9 and then she had me complete some forms on the computer, including an automatic deposit form. She scheduled a drug test and told me they were running a criminal background check. I asked if I was hired and she said yes. I then asked what the pay would be and she said $7.25. I did not accept the job.
Interview Question – Lots of scenario type questions like "how would you handle..." or "tell me about a time when..." Be prepared with good customer service experiences and problem solving skills. Answer Question
Reason for Declining – $7.25 an hour
No Offer – Interviewed in Johnstown, PA – Reviewed Jul 29, 2012
