Engineer at Seattle City Light

No Offer – Interviewed in Seattle, WA – Reviewed Jan 30, 2013

Interview Details – I found the position online and applied with my resume. And then there was a very, very long form to fill which asked the same questions as resume, but this form required you to fill everything again, very time consuming process. I was called for an interview. Took me around 4 hours or so. There are 2 parts to the interview - first a ME test, and then an oral interview for 1 hour. First they had the 2 hour engineering test. This test was very absurd because I have my PE! Why would SCL waste everybody's time conducting an ME test for a Professional Engineering license holder? The reference sheet provided as very poor, with no explanation on what the letters meant in the formulas provided. I also given a copy of the questions that I will be asked at the interview. After that I was barely given a 10 minute break (I used the restroom and then barely took a bite off my snack bar) before I was called in for the actual interview. I did appreciate them giving me the interview questions ahead of time, gave me some time to be prepared. After the 1 hour interview I was seen out the door. They didn't pay me for parking which ran into $15+ in the city. I'm not griping over the $15, but a 100% of all other companies I've ever interviewed for covered parking. Small things that leave an impression

Interview Question – Flip through your PE book before the interview. All the test questions were covered in the PE book. They didn't ask me any HR type question. It was mostly technical type stuff.   Answer Question
