I applied through an employee referral - interviewed at Selfridges in October 2011.
Interview Details – I left my CV with one of my sales lady and I told her I needed a part-time as a sales assistant. I wanted to work for luxury ladies accessories, and after about a month I got the interview offer from the HR. I did a role play and however passed the first around with be interviewed with HR member and a department manager. Interview questions are quite simple, just why selfridges and how can you see your career going etc.
Interview Question – They asked you to do a role play to see how to interact with potential customers. Answer Question
I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Selfridges in April 2013.
Interview Details – Applied online. Was then asked to do an video interview which was very surprising. They ask one question then give you one minute to answer with 30 seconds before hand to think of an answer.
Interview Question – What denim brands do you like and why do you like them Answer Question
I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Selfridges in September 2012.
Interview Details – online application with usual quesitons, then if you pass, a phone interview.
the phone interview is a little more detailed, be prepared to know a lot about brands- DONT say 'chanel' or 'gucci' & don;t call a brand 'classy'.
if you pass you are invited to a group interview at Selfridges.
the staff are really nice and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
they ask you a lot of informal questions that are testing your personality and brand knowledge.
whats your favourite brands?- don;t say the obvious ones, don;t say dior/prada/chanel/louis vuitton as youi'll sound like a chav who reads vogue.
a few girls said 'acne' and 'jil sander' which they liked
you must also be prepared to talk about the materials, cut, fit etc
they asked favourite movie/book/celebrity &~ why. etc.
be bubbly, join in with others etc etc
while this group conversation is going on, they are doing one to one interviews, in which they ask you about working with a client book, other language customers, why you want to work for Selfridges, what you think good customer service is etc
then you leave and wait 5-7days to hear from them.
be assured that half the people there are just girls who think they like fashion because they know what cheryl cole wears , the other half are serious, so use their points as a springboard for your own
