Interviewed May 2010 (took 1 week)
This was an internal promotion interview. The position was available for a lead role. I was made aware by my store director. Internally there was some prepping that was done. My store director wanted to make sure I was set up for success. She told me specifics on what types of things that may be asked in my interview and even walked through some questions with me. Had to phone interview with DM and SD from the location. Very business driven questions on how to grow, specific challenges I would encounter, etc.

It was challenging but as a leader I feel that you have more ground to stand on with factual PROOF that you are worth it( past achievements, sales) For advice on someone that is considering an offer? Interviewed Oct 2010 in New York, NY (took 3 days)
I responded to a posting on Craigslist and was called in for a group interview within two days. The group interview was myself, another girl and the Store Director. After 20 minutes worth typical questions, the interview ended. Two days later, I was called, offered the position and accepted. After the holiday season, I was offered a full time position were I did a very simple follow up interview with the Regional Director.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 2 days)
I found out Sephora was looking for seasonal cashier and overnight stock on Craigslist. I emailed my information and answered all the questions that was provided on a Monday. I got a phone call on Tuesday morning to see if I can come in for an interview in the afternoon so of course I said yes! I came into the store asking for the DIC (Director In Charge) for the interview. The staff was lovely and so nice as well as the DIC. This turned out to be a group interview. It was me and two other girls. We went outside that had tables so we can start the interview process. It was a bit nerve wrecking because I haven't gone for a retail interview in so long since I had work at my previous job for a long time until I had to move. We were sat down and I sat in the middle so I can look directly at my DIC. We went in order even though it didn't have to be like that. The first girl would talk and she was really good. Than I was next and then the next girl. It went around like that for about half an hour I think to an hour. After that was done, DIC said she will give us a call the next day to do a second interview and will require a demo with cashiering.
So I went home and waited for the call. I finally got a call from the DIC and asked if I can do a second interview the next day and of course I said yes! Now it's Wednesday and realize it was a one on one interview. The DIC asked simple interview questions like she did on Tuesday but more about customer service. After that, we did a demo if I were to ring up a client and how would I help the client out. That was about half an hour I think. It didn't take too long. After the process, the DIC said she will give me a call whether I get the job or not which is nice of her to do. She said she would call me the next day which would be Thursday and that she will be calling my references.
So Thursday came by and no phone calls. I did have one of my ex co-worker text me the same day and had told me the DIC from Sephora had called her and my manager about me for references. So I knew somewhat I may get the job but not sure. A whole Thursday went by with no calls. So Friday came by and finally around late evening I got a phone call from the DIC and that was offered a job! I was really happy because I needed a new job so bad since I've moved out of state and need income coming in. Though it's seasonal and it's for a cashier position... it's something! So I had to go to an orientation the next week and after that, a cashier training day! The interview process was really quick. It happened all in one week which is a first for me. Still working until this day and hoping I would get hired on officially but hopefully to a Color Consultant instead of just doing cashier all day, every day. Color is what I do best so I hope they like me enough to keep me on! Gotta work hard in order to get where you want! My advice is every interview process is like a new journey. Whether you get the job or not, it's the fact that they liked you enough to give you an interview than to some 100 other people that had applied. Good luck to everyone!

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Pleasanton, CA (took a day)
This was actually one of most pleasant interviews I've experienced, despite the lack of a job offer.
I asked for an application in person, and submitted it in person the following week. I got a callback for an interview that same day.
I arrived with my resume and a list of references. One of the employees told me the interviewer would be a few minutes, so I looked around at the items, making sure to stay near the back in case she called soon. She called me in after a few minutes, and we started to interview immediately. She was very friendly and very charming, so it really helped make the interview a lot more comfortable. It didn't even really feel like an interview, it just felt like us two girls having a chat.
Afterward, she said that the assistant manager would be having a second round of interviews and would be calling within the week. It's been 2 weeks since the interview and I haven't received any notice, but I still believe this interview was a great experience.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Frisco, TX (took a day)
I walked into Sephora and asked for an application, filled it out and turned it in about an hour later. A nice SA told me that the manager was on break for lunch, but that she would turn it in to her when she gets back. I told the SA my name and that the manager can call me at any time, and went home. The next day I got a call from the manager and she told me she'd like to interview me, and that I'd be interviewing with an assistant manager. We scheduled the interview three days after she called me.
The day of the interview:
I decided to wear all black. Hair pulled back, fitted black pants with a fitted black shirt and ballet flats. I walked in to Sephora about 10 minutes before the interview and I was greeted by a very nice MUA. I told him that I had an interview, and he shook my hand, asked my name, and gave me his. He told me that the assistant manager would be out shortly. I browsed around the store for maybe 20 - 25 minutes before the assistant manager greeted me, shook my hand, and took me to the back.
It was a one-on-one interview, and it went smoothly, but it was very routine - it seemed that maybe there were a lot of other applicants and that I was "just another applicant" that she wanted to get through, which I understand. I wish the interviewer would have been more personable; then I would have been more comfortable. The questions were very typical interview questions: they don't care if you like make-up, they are only concerned about your customer service skills and if you are passionate about helping people. Once the interview was done, she shook my hand and told me that I may receive a phone call within two weeks. I was practically glued to my phone for two weeks, hoping I'd get a call, but I never did. After the two weeks, I called my Sephora store and left a message, asking them if the position has been filled or for an update. Never got a call back. I'm kind of bummed that they never called back, not even to say "no, we've filled the position".
Overall, this Sephora store is filled with great people. I hardly ever find a store with such nice customer service whenever I go in there for my makeup, hair, or skincare needs. They seem to all work together nicely, always smiling, always looking nice, and always helpful. I wanted to be a part of that! Ah well.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 2 days)
Applied online for a new store opening. Met at Starbucks for the initial, and second interview - both with Store Directors. Both interviews were very general - no "form" questions and thankfully, no "tell me about a time..." questions. I felt good after both interviews, but unfortunately no offer.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Culver City, CA (took 5 days)
I created a profile on the JCPenney career website and then called several Sephora in JCPenney stores to see which ones were hiring. I interviewed at one Sephora inside JCPenney but did not receive an offer. Several months, later on a monday, a different Sephora called and asked if i was still interested in a position there. I did not even apply to that specific one nor contact them! But I said of course I'm interested and we scheduled an interview for wednesday. She was very personable and easy-going. She asked basic questions about how do you deal with difficult customers or stressful situaions. She offered me a second interview with the store manager of JCPenney for that friday. The questions were kind of the same, just worded more complex lol. About an hour later I received a call from them but I missed it and she didnt leave a message! But she called back the next morning and let me know that they absolutely loved me and wanted to offer me a position! It takes about 4 or 5 days to clear the background check and then they will me in to begin training :)
