Had a 3-hour interview with manager & HR. It revolved around the information my resume + behavioural questions. Pretty elaborate, I would say. Interview was held in a very professional manner, both HR & manager took lots of notes. Prior to an interview had to sign-off background check release for the verification of education, employment history & references and for criminal record check, and also was requested to provide two copies of ID. Got an offer with sign-off bonus. With an offer I received new forms for background check, a separate form for drug test, and a request to provide copy of the degree certificate.

Reason for Declining
My current employer counter-offered (salary increase, additional week of vacations + promotion). Offer from Shell was VERY good, but the counter-offer was better.
Other Details
I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Group/Panel Interview and a Background Check.

After the 1st round of interviews, successful candidates are invited to participate in a Shell Recruitment Day, which consists of 7 other new grads being assessed. You will attend dinner the night before, and the next day you will be assessed by doing a case study, business scenario, and a group activity.

Interviewer was not too professional. Limited time for a lot of question. Have very specific information that they're looking for (doesn't allow you to expand on your answers). Questions were none of the typical interview questions.

Started with a phone conversation with HR. Had regular email communications. Had in-person interviews with HR and future managers. Went well. Very pleasant. Be prepared and bring a sample of some creative work you have performed recently.

Negotiation Details
They offer the max salary up-front. Focus on signing bonus increases and annual bonus percentage. Everything else at Shell is a slam dunk, not much need to negotiate.
