Dropped off resume in store. Received call 2 weeks later for an interview. I was confident I had the skills to the job. The interview was more whether I could fit with the manager's personality and the store team. After going through many interviews, I finally found my fit.

I walked in with confidence and introduced myself. I have a background in skincare and makeup so was not intimidated and feel very comfortable meeting new people. The manager asked why I wanted to work there and what I can bring to the company. I never once hesitated in my answers and the interview turned into a very nice casual conversation. She asked what I would do if I was put into a tough situation and I just used common sense. There were other regular questions about work flexibility, cleaning duties, cash questions and wage.

Negotiation Details
I negotiated and started at $11 plus commission. Now 3 years later I'm at $16 plus commission. Although I did transfer to another location. Just show them you would be an asset to their company, don't hesitate and never give them anything negative about yourself. Show confidence, be assertive, be professional and show passion for the work you are applying for. I was asked what my faults would be and it was " I always like to get everything done and want to help my customers and give them the best experience that I sometimes forget to take my breaks." Also there were times I had 3 regulars come in all at the same time to see me and I couldn't get to them fast enough, but were all willing and happy to wait. So turn a negative into a positive. Know what you are worth based on your experience and don't feel bad about asking for a little higher wage because every company will want to pay less and start very low.

I went in to meet the store manager who was very friendly. She took me into a quiet area of the store where we sat down for our interview. I have been in the store numerous times and always found the other employees incredibly friendly which is why I wanted to work there.
She asked a lot of simple questions, why did I want to work there, what did I think I could bring to the company, my availability.
I believe I didn't get called back because she mainly hired college students who would be happy with very few shifts and short hours per week.

I had a cousin that worked there and since i was in the cosmetology field and looking for employment, she suggested i talk to to the cosmetics manager, which i did. She got a good first impression from me, called me in for an interview, asked me some questions in regards to customer service and basic cosmetics knowledge and i was hired to start the following day.

I was called to come to the Legion for a group interview. No skills test, drug test or personality test done. WHMIS course provided and given forms to fill out. We were told the salary was $9.00/hr and if anyone didn't like that, they could leave now.

No negotiation. We were told not to show up with alcohol or drugs on our breath and not to be late, or there would be no point in giving excuses as we'd be let go. We were told we'd be parcel checked on our way out at the end of the shift. No positive reinforcement or teambuilding.

In person interview where I was asked to answer traditional interview and a few behavioral questions. Came to the interview with my responces and a positive attitude. Had one interview and waited a week for my status of employment. Afterwards got an offer and requred to complete a criminal background check.

Firsly, the cosmetician manager called me at home and asked me if I was still interested in the position, to which I replied yes. Then, she asked me about my availability and if I was aware that it was also a weekend job. She asked for my age and if I will be going back to school in the fall. After, she asked me to meet with her and discuss more.
