Interviewed Feb 2012 in Boston, MA (took 3 weeks)
First, the recruiter called me, she had seen my resume on monster.com. I wasn't initially interested in the position, but I decided to give it a whirl, since I needed a job and she seemed really nice and described an ideal work environment. I had the initial interview with her and she passed on my answers to a few basic questions to the hiring manager. Like what is Internet marketing? What is Paid search? that kind of thing, super basic.
The second interview (phone) was with the hiring manager. He was nice, but its obvious they are a very fast paced company becuase he seemed really rushed, almost felt bad asking questions! He talked about the position and asked me a few questions about my experience in SEM, nothing too complex, more about my work style, personality, etc... After the interview was over, he asked me to do an SEM exercise and send it to him within the next 3 hours. It was just analyzing a bunch of data that he sent over. It wasn't that hard, just threw off the rest of my day. After a day or two the recruiter called and set up my in person interviews for that week.
OK! First I met with HR and the hiring manager, she asked me about everything on my resume, and even stuff that wasnt on there, pretty much took a deep dive into my professional psyche. why I made the decisions that I made, etc... It was fine, she was polite and the hiring manager was great.
Then, I was interivewed by two people - They absolutely grilled me about SEM/Analytics, setting up accounts, etc... how would I slice/analyze data.... The next guy was the same way... totally grilled me about setting up SEM accounts/etc... The VP of software devel. came in... he described the team/the work, etc... he was asking questions like what do you want to do? and what dont you want to do?? I apparently didnt answer any questions right or maybe he could see me rolling my eyes at all of the pretentious vocabulary that he was using because my last two people to interview with were suddenly too busy to interview with me... hey, at least we didn't waste anymore time pretending!
