Very Difficult Interview

Technical Support Specialist Interview

Technical Support Specialist
Toronto, ON (Canada)

I applied online and the process took 5 days - interviewed at Softcom in February 2011.

Interview Details – Terrible interview. Asked totally irrelevant questions to my experience and position I was applying for. Recent University graduate with IT work experience and yet they tore apart my part time positions working in retail from 3-4 years back asking about coworkers and managers I haven't seen or talked to in years. I understand my long part time retail job experience shows I can hold a job and it builds character, but they spent like 30 minutes on each part time job I spent working through University scrutinizing it asking me about non existent things like performance reviews and crap. Asking me about my in depth opinion of managerial techniques about leadership in retail. I've never had such an irrelevant and pointless interview. How about asking me about my IT experience, abilities, knowledge, and my experience at my IT jobs.

Also yes their whole 'what disney princess would you be?' and 'how would you weigh your head' are SOO clever.

I was constantly bombarded with questions about my opinion of managers and if I liked them and why I didn't like them and if I'm good at following leadership. That is an important question I know, but it was analysed for an hour and a half from so many angles. Seems like a terrible place to work, where they really want to find no backbone sheep who have no problem with management so they can drain their life with Technical Support positions supporting terrible outside clients for long terrible obscure shifts.

This interview was for their section, so maybe their other departments are better, but this was by far the most awful interview I've been on.
