Interviewed May 2008 in Weybridge, England (United Kingdom) (took 2 months)
Found role through recruiter, spoke about role on the phone and on e-mail.
1st stage: interview with line manager - competency-based; standard questions
2nd stage: had about one week to prepare presentation for line manager and larger team; presented then answered their questions
3rd stage: met with line manager and HR, completed psychometric and personality tests
4th stage: prior to offer, had informal meeting with line manager who explored issues revealed in personality and psychometric testing, and met wtih MD of Business Unit

I was able to negotiate slightly higher salary and took holiday that was already booked almost immediately after I started

I got a call from A consultant , for sony. At first a HR from Sony called me and asked about salary. That's bit different.
Then I had a webcam interview with them.
Mainly asked about linux commands , such as tar, /proc file system, strace.
Then they asked about questions my projects. And went to project specific questions.

Sony was recently targeting fresh graduates from universities and advertised at university booths and university websites. I responded to one of their advertisements.
Interview process:
Was selected for interview based on resume and cover letter.
Interview process was a panel interview, asking for job qualifications, education history, strengths and weaknesses. Some technical questions was also asked

Very informal, with questions about current activities and job descriptions. manager provided in great detail the responsibilities and expectations of the job. How team members work together, after hour support. I believe they were gauging how well the personality of the individual would work in the position they were trying to fill.
