Interview Details –
My resume was sent in through a contact to the entry level recruiter. I was then contacted by her to come in for an informational interview which I accepted and attended at the Sotheby's New York building at 1334 York Ave.
The meeting took over 30 mins with the recruiter and included most standard questions:
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- Why Sotheby's?
- Tell me about your background
- What are your interests here (potential career trajectory)
- Tell me about the most difficult situation you've had to face
- What are your weaknesses and strengths
- Detailed questions about experiences at past positions and internships
Interview Question – Nothing too unexpected. Just ensure that you are well prepared for most standard questions and you should be fine. This recruiter was standard in her interviewing method but relentless in the sense that her questions come pretty quickly and authoritatively. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – There was no negotiation. All floaters are paid $14/hour and one and a half for overtime.

Interview Details – It was a typical HR interview with strengths/weaknesses questions. The atmosphere is very Devil Wears Prada like...

Interview Details – Somewhat challenging experience for an initial interview with new HR 'Early Career Recruiter' and her supervisor (for quality assurance purposes, I assume.) Was asked a variety of standard questions pertaining to experience listed on my resume in seemingly random order for nearly an hour, what was your greatest accomplishment in this position, why did you leave that position, what did you like least about this position. No behavioral-type questions. Supervisor chimed in at the end to answer my questions about the position, but no job role overview given during the interview. Stiff atmosphere, hard to gauge interviewers' responses, not quite as conversational as most other interviews I've had. Intimidation factor higher than anticipated.

Interview Details – I was called in through a recruiter for this position. Interview process was a three-part process. Initially I had a quick interview with Human Resources to screen if I was a viable candidate, in other words, they were checking to see if I was mentally stable, ect. The 2nd round I interviewed with managers. 3rd with the controller.

Interview Details –
Met with the company at a career's fair, and was advised that I should contact HR (with a specific email address) to receive a copy of the application form. Information about the role at this stage was minimal (deliberately, I think).
Application form was quite long but a useful exercise in itself for preparing for the next stages. It addressed your current academics and experience and how that related to the role, what your career plans were, as well as detailed questions about previous qualifications.
The interview was very short, and I had been advised this would be the case before hand - just 25 minutes. I was asked the 4 questions below and then the USP question. The process was then explained more fully. For this round I was told there had been 400 applicants and they were conducting 140 interviews - so it is highly competitive. The next stage, if i am successful, will be an assessment centre.

Interview Details – Very friendly, well-spoken and professional HR girl welcomed me and walked me to a very tiny conference room. Atmosphere was great until the current specalist came in. After almost an hour of talking to her, we both decided to not see each other ever again. I had a feeling that they were looking for a gorgeous looking white girl to fill the position, since the job entails a lot of interaction with potential clients and not necessarily knowledge of jewelry. I will be stuck in the office assisting all the specialists on the phone, while they travel around the world. What really disappointed me was her posture and her snobbish attitude, and when she said "i just pick up a piece, look at it for a second and decide if it's good for an auction." Having been interviewed by many high-end jewelry companies, their interview was the least professionally conducted. Actually....Van Cleef was the worst....Sotheby's came second to the worst.

Interview Details – Atlanta Fine Homes typically hires experienced agents, however some of our most successful agents came to us as rookies and have been incredible. If you know your market and are committed to a full time real estate career this could be an option. Knowing your market and being able to sell yourself to the Managing Broker is very important. The company is VERY prestigous and VERY professional so keep that in mind!

Interview Details – I got the name of someone in HR from a fellow alumnus. HR reached out to me for a phone interview, and we went through my resume together. Set up an in-person interview for the next week. HR was friendly and professional, and told me to keep in touch. I e-mailed several times over the course of the next few months but never got a response.
