Interviewed Jan 2011 in Dallas, TX (took a day)
Phone interview came first. A few questions about skills involved in the work, not tough. Then I was invited to an on-site interview.
Before the interview there were some forms to fill, for background check. I was interviewed by HR and the supervisor of the dept I applied. Most questions were technical. They are friendly and considerate, but I did not find myself into this position actually...
Suggestions: show your passion and your expertise! You must be an expert in the specific position you applied.

Interviewed Apr 2011 (took 1 week)
A two part interview, the first was a phone the second one was one on one. The phone interview went real well she was very nice and very personable. The 1 on 1 interview was not as good. She was not personable at all. She was very hard...and the questions was not stated very well. I was so disappointed
in the interview with SW Airlines stating how people friendly they are. I have had lots of experience in interviewing myself and she was tough...Disappointed..

Interviewed Jan 2011 in Dallas, TX (took 2 weeks)
I had a phone interview in which they asked the usual fit questions, and then they flew me down to Dallas for an in-person interview. Everyone was very nice. I essentially just went through a run-down of my resume with someone from the HR Department and the manager I'd be working under. They asked a lot more personal questions than I expected, e.g. "Why didn't you choose this hobby as a career?" and "Why don't you just stay with your current job?".
When I found out I didn't get it, they cited a lack of experience in the sales aspect of this particular position and called me on the phone. They were very polite and prompt in their response.

Interviewed Jan 2011 in San Francisco, CA (took 2 months)
You apply online, you go through a phone interview then you are scheduled for a in-person interview. They will take your finger prints, drug test you and then send off for your background check. You have to provide your employment history for the past 10 years. If you pass all of that then you will receive an offer over the phone from one of their recruiters.

When they say flexible hours they definitely mean it. You are at the bottom of the totem pole so you will receive the hours no one wants. Most likely those are evenings and weekends. Sometimes you will even have to work mandatory shifts (2 shifts in one day). 16 hour days are common during your 6 months of probation.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Dallas, TX (took 3 months)
I applied online for a 2011 summer internship in November 2010.
Then, in February, I had a quick basic phone interview, consisting mainly of behavioral questions.
About two days later, I was told I made it to the next round.
A week or two later, they flew me (on Southwest of course) to Love Field where I had my second round interview which was a panel. The questions were both behavioral and situational. They required all candidates to submit a "Why Southwest" essay and 2 letters of recommendation.
I flew to Love Field on a Friday and I got the offer on Monday.

Interviewed Feb 2010 in Dallas, TX (took 4 weeks)
The hiring process was very straight forward. I got a phone interview first thing in the morning and passed. Basically just a once-over of the resume and any questions SWA had about it. The panel interview was with 2 department heads and an HR rep. We went over behavioral questions and skill questions. Not too hard.

Interviewed Jan 2011 in Dallas, TX (took 2 months)
Initially applied online. Two weeks later received email from a recruiter for a phone interview. Phone interview was just the recruiter speaking about the internship and the next step. No questions. A week later received an email from another recruiter saying that I would be flown out to Dallas and had to write an essay titled "Why Southwest?" before my interview. Had an in-person interview at headquarters with recruiter and member of technical team a few weeks later since I was on holiday break. Asked me questions about how I would solve different problems and why I wanted to intern at Southwest. Everyone was very friendly and understanding.

Interviewed Jan 2011 (took a day)
Typical behavioral interview, asked question like "what are strengths and weaknesses", and "what do you do in your free time." Also, spoke for quite some time about position and decision making process. Very scripted. Was told I might be flown out and asked for my drivers license info, next day received an email (not a personal one, sent to all who were rejected) saying I wasn't selected

Got a phone call from the HR department to setup a phone interview. The next day I received an email with further information about how the interview process would work. A few days later was my interview. The phone interview, which lasted about 15 minutes, consisted of an explanation of the internship and benefits. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly.
