Interviewed May 2010 in Burlington, ON (Canada) (took 2 months)
The initial contact was from a recruiter, who had seen my resume online. He asked if he could pass my resume onto Staples HR, which I indicated he could. Then an HR representative called me within the week. She asked me standard questions about my resume, my years as a manager, customer service, etc. I was told at the end of that interview I would be given a call at some point in the future if they were interested. About two weeks later I got a call from the District Manager, who set up an one-on-one interview with me at one of the stores. At that interview, he went in-depth into all aspect of my resume, asked about high school, extra curricular, my first job, etc. I felt they were trying to gauge personality along with management competencies. I felt very confident at the end of the interview because I am proud of my life and what I have done.

I was not able to negotiate more vacation time. Having come from a company where I had 5 weeks of vacation, going down to 2 was rather painful.
Other Details
I got the interview through a Recruiter and the interview consisted of a Background Check, a 1:1 Interview and a Phone Interview.

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took 3 weeks)
Mixup on the interview time right from the start, despite my email confirmation and followup phone call. The director informed me that he wasn't expecting me for another hour but I could wait and while he took a conference call, was left with the other interviewer for over an hour. So we chatted about the position, she clearly began looking at her watch, when the director walks in and announces that I can start my presentation asap, which I jump up to do when an unexpected third person walks in. Oh wel, I thought, maybe this a test? The director sat stonefaced throughout. I was asked in for a second interview at 6 am to observe the first shift starting their day, I then had a tour etc. That was over one month ago, I have followed up and have not heard a thing. Nothing. Nada.

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Regina, SK (Canada) (took 5 days)
I was called to interview for the ETE position, and was first met by the assistant manager of the location that I had applied. He was a nice guy, asked the standard questions about past work experience, and did a little role play. If a customer comes in to buy a laptop, what are you going to try and add on to the sale? Things of this nature...This interview went well, and I was called back a week later to interview with the general manager. It was in his office that I met with him 1:1, but the district manager was also listening in on speaker phone. Once again, they ran through different scenarios such as what I would do if there were an unhappy customer. I was caught off guard by their unsatisfaction with my answers, as they kept prodding me to go deeper and elaborate on things (I thought I had done a sufficient job). It was for this reason that I thought I blew it, and was not going to get a call at all. To my surprise, I was called about a week later, and offered a position. I'm excited to start with Staples, but the interview process was a little longer than I thought it should be.

Interviewed Aug 2010 (took a day)
Easy, just asked a few questions and simple background probing. Each of the managers asked different types of questions and tested my computer knowledge. The store manager did more of the information and paper stuff. Was pretty good.

Interviewed May 2010 in Victoria, BC (Canada) (took 1 week)
I was first contacted by someone that does preinterview questions. Like why did you apply to our company, what are you doing now and some specific questions regarding my resume. Once she had garnered that I knew what I was taking about she set up a phone interview for the next week. The phone interview lasted about 2 hours they were very detailed in going back over every aspect of your resume. to the point of asking who your favourite teacher in high school was and what did you like about him/her. I found the one doing the interview was very nice but seemed somewhat scripted in his delivery. Over all it was a very good experience.
