Interviewed at Staples
Interview Details – The hiring and interview process at Staples is pretty standard.
It begins with a phone screen/interview with an HR representative whom you will never meet. The conversation will consist of your current and past experiences, as well as your current pay range. If they believe you are a good fit for an onsite interview, they will schedule you for 1st rounds very quickly. The 1st round will likely consist of meeting with a Director, as well as a few managers. If you get the green light from round 1, there will be a final round with those more closely to your specific role and team/function. After the final round, an initial offer will be presented that will not be very competitive in the current market. You should utilize this opportunity to negotiate for a more competitive salary package.
As far as the people, they were smart and personable. The culture was very corporate and felt rigid. The buildings/campus were very large, and the floors, offices, and cubicles looked outdated and stale. They do have a good cafeteria onsite which will be a bonus because nothing else is nearby for food.
Interview Question – Standard interview questions of:
1) What are your current and past experiences?
2) Why are you looking to leave?
3) Why do you want to work at Staples? Answer Question
Reason for Declining – The compensation was less than desirable.
