Business to Business Sales Specialist Interview

I applied online. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at Staples in June 2014.

    Interview Details

Initial phone interview followed up by two in person interviews for two different teams within the state. Two week wait to find out if selected after my last interview, never was called back. Looking primarily for candidates that already have proven sales experience so if you don't, you're close to being a dead man walking through that door. However, their hub in California forces them to interview a lot of applicants, especially ones out of college. But they need to meet sales goals, so if they don't have proof you can do that, you're out of luck.

    Staples Advantage Sales Consultant Interview

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Staples.

    Interview Details

I found the job posting on Linkedin and applied. A recruiter called me 2 days later and we spoke for about 15 about the position. We scheduled another phone interview for the following day which lasted for roughly 45 minutes. We discussed more about the position and then talked about my background, sales experience, education, etc. We then talked about personality questions such as "Do you enjoy working in teams?" "When was a time you encountered an obstacle in a sales environment and how did you overcome the obstacle." The recruiter then forwarded my information to the local sales manager where I interviewed 3 days later. The interview was casual and relaxed and the sales manager just wanted to get to know more about me and if i'd be a good fit. That interview lasted for roughly 65 minutes.

In the conclustion of the interview with the sales manager, I was asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation, 5 slides about me and 5 slides about the Staples Advantage program. I presented the presentation 3 days later to the sales manager and regional director. The presentation was somewhat intense and I wasn't pleased about my performance although my peers gave me good feedback.

Had 2 phone interviews, one in-person (phone and webex) interview to demonstrate training ability. Very thorough, a little intimidating as people who were not trained to interview were doing a lot of the questioning
