      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Staples (Sacramento, CA) in Jun 2011

      Interview

I was originally hired as an in-store technician. There were only 2 interviews I had to go through. The first was with the sales manager, who took me back to the furniture pad, and we had a far more casual interview than I expected. She asked a lot of the common questions, like previous employment, values, etc... During this interview, she called over one of the techs at the time, and he asked me a few technical questions, which were very easy to answer. The next interview was with the General Manager, and this one was a little more formal. We spoke in her office, and I was mainly asked questions about different scenarios. After that, we just talked about the job's expectations, and she quizzed me a little on customer service. I heard back from them about a week later, in the afternoon, and they just said, "We would like you, you're hired." The only test I had to take was after being hired.

      Question 1

There weren't many difficult questions. The only one that I had a little trouble with was explaining to the General Manager the different service plans and services that the company offers. The Sales Manager had given me some pamphlets to study, so I was somewhat prepared for it.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Staples (Rochester, MN) in Jul 2013

      Interview

The job application is online which then goes through a screening process and is shown to the store GM by green (hire), yellow (maybe), or red (do not hire). If you are green or yellow you go through an interview process and basically find out first time whether or not you are hired.

      Question 1

There were no difficult questions. it was a very straight-forward interview.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Staples (Madison, NJ) in Mar 2013

      Interview

All applications are submitted online. You upload a resume and take a personality test. The personality test just tells Staples how willing you are to bend over backwards for them. A day after I submitted my application I was called to schedule my first interview which was with the Assistant Manager. He asked some pretty basic technology questions as well as asked about previous experiences with customers. I was immediately scheduled an interview for an interview with the General manager of the store. This interview was the same as the one with the Assistant Manager. After the interview he had me take a knowledge test. It kind of reminded me of a very outdated A+ exam.

      Question 1

The "hardest" part was the outdated computer knowledge test.

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Staples (Cortland, NY) in Aug 2012

      Interview

I applied to Cortland location and heard nothing after over a month of follow-up calls. I then went to the East Syracuse location and asked to speak to a manager. When I explained the situation he promptly interviewed me, called Cortland, and proceeded to set up an interview for me directly. When I went to my second interview the sales manager was eager to ask technical questions where the other managers couldn't come up with a non-generic interview question.

      Question 1

The job involves fixing repairs but may consist of selling computers and bundling services. How do you feel about selling instead?
