Sales Associate Interview

Sales Associate
Auburn, MA

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Staples.

Interview Details – Got a call and came in to be interviewed by two people, the manager and the tech supervisor, both at separate times. It was a pretty smooth process and I did not find it to be intimidating at all. The questions they ask were answerable and yeah it was a pretty pleasant process. Was not provided with the wage I was suppose to get until later on in the hiring process. I think it was a way to skip out on negotiating a wage.

Interview Question – Putting you on the spot to answer questions about your knowledge of everything.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Didn't even have a chance during the interview. Later on in the process I was just given one...

Sales Associate Interview

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Staples in May 2014.

Interview Details – Got a call from an assistant manager and did a quick impromptu interview on the phone which was simply the reason that I wanted the work there and my availability. Then did an one on one interview a couple days later which was very simple and straight forward. Again about the reason why I wanted to work there and past experience with sales and be willing to up-sell products to the customer. Was ask if I had any complaints about me in my previous job and available hours to work there. Did a background check online a couple days later and even got a hard copy in the mail a few days later but then I got another email with the same prompt for background check. At this point I had other opportunities come up at my school so I decided not to follow up with the process.

Interview Question – There were absolutely no difficult or unexpected questions. The interview process was more like a friendly chat.   Answer Question

Sales Associate Interview

Sales Associate
Lynbrook, NY

I applied through other source and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Staples in July 2012.

Interview Details – We met at a job fair where I had the chance to sit down and discuss the position with the manager. He decided I was a good fit and asked me to come to his office in Lynbrook to meet with him. We sat down and he pitched his position to me.

Interview Question – Why was I looking to leave my current company was a pretty tough question for me at the time. It wasn't unfair I just wasn't sure how to answer it at the point I was at in my life. He was fair though and didn't grill me too much about it. Overall it was a positive experience.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Staples.

Interview Details – I applied in October and was contacted by phone in January. I went in for an interview two days later. My initial impressions were not good as my interview took place in the furniture section of the store on the display office chairs and we were frequently interrupted by customers.

Interview Question – Every question was very basic. In fact, this was by far the easiest interview I've had. They knew my experience and I guess they knew that I wouldn't encounter anything new.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There were no negotiations.

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Staples.

Interview Details – I had been referred by a friend who worked in the same store. The first interview was with the assistant manager of operations. He asked me the normal array of questions and introduced me to the technician working on computers. I was able to speak to the technician on a number of topics including computer repair, sales strategies and new gadgets. I was scheduled for a second interview with the assistant manager of sales. Much the same as the first. A few days later they called me and told me I was hired.

Interview Question – When I spoke to the technician he asked what kind of scans I might run on the computer he was working on.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I was told how much the position paid. My option was to take it or leave it.
