Interviewed Apr 2010 in Los Angeles, CA (took a day)
I went to a Starbucks and asked if they were hiring. I then filled out an application and attached my resume along with it. A few days later I received a call from the manager and set up an interview date. Following just basic questions about my experience and job related activities, the interview wasn't bad at all. However I was informed that I didn't get the job, but it's ok i'm just glad that I tried.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Anaheim, CA (took 2 weeks)
I applied online on a Saturday and got a call from the store manager a few days later to schedule an interview. She was very accommodating when I told her I couldn't make it to the interview time she wanted me at, due to me being in school. I showed up and she asked really easy questions, and the interview was more conversational than formal. Asked 4 or 5 questions, then checked my availability and said she'd call back by the end of the week, which is in a few days.

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Los Angeles, CA (took a day)
The interview was conducted by the manager who was extremely friendly. It was more focused of what the potential employee felt about the company, what he/she could bring to the table, and you he/she acted in previous high stress events (like how did you handle a situation with an unhappy client). The questions were not standard interview question.

Interviewed Aug 2008 in Torrance, CA (took a day)
The interview process was simplistic and straightforward. I met the manager, who scheduled an interview time for the next day. During the interview, we discussed our interests, the vision of the company, the job responsibilities, pay, etc. She then encouraged me to apply for a corporate position, since I already had a degree, but I declined because of my school schedule. I was then offered a position.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Los Angeles, CA (took a day)
It was very straightforward. They asked me to have an interview over the phone and asked me about my past experiences working at other fast food companies. They asked me about what my daily schedule was like, what problems I experienced, how I dealt with customers, and other questions like that.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Azusa, CA (took a day)
Very simple and easy for me. Basically, I turned in an application saying that I was interested and had a year's experience working at a college campus coffee shop. They never really emphasized my personal skills or anything like that. No shock there, as Starbucks employees aren't always the nicest. Anyway, I just showed them my stuff and I was offered the job. However, they only wanted me to work closing hours, so I declined. It all depends on the shop you apply to.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in Costa Mesa, CA (took 3 days)
It was pretty straight forward, they asked about previous experience, why I wanted to work for them, what my future plans are. They told me about some of their rules and regulations. We also talked about if you worked at one would it be easier to transfer to another, and what the average lenght of stay there is.

Interviewed Jun 2007 in Woodland Hills, CA (took a day)
They have a way of not calling you back when you turn in the application. However, I went to a hiring fair and this works much better. Other than the managers, the employees seem unhappy and stressed out. Starbucks is much more concerned with the colors of clothes the employees are wearing than real problems.
My advice for the interview would simply be to smile CONSTANTLY (literally, keep a fake grim plastered on at all times), appear outgoing, happy, and friendly. Emphasize any customer service expericne you have. They will want to know how you helped your customers. Also, take a crash course in PR - type BS. Starbucks uses "corporate speak" on a never-ending basis.

Negotiation Details
They most likely will not start you out at a rate higher than $8.25, unless you qualify as a supervisor.
