Interviewed Jan 2012 in Seattle, WA (took 2 days)
They have standard questions for the MBA campus recruiting, such as 1. Tell me once upon a time you successfully handle the ambiguity? 2, tell us how you repackage a adverse concept or project for better acceptance 3, tell me how you can sell the onion to the market if we are planning to acquire a onion company? 4 Why you are interested in Starbucks. 5, Could you tell us a story can demonstrate your communication skills?...... Half an hour in total, two interviewers. They are pretty nice and laid back, but limited eye contacts as they are busy with taking notes. And, they will give the very detailed interview process and position introduction in the beginning.
Other Details
I got the interview through a College or University and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Seattle, WA (took 3 months)
After a couple of phone interviews in which I was asked very few questions I was told I would be invited to the HQ for a F2F interview. The interviews began with "What questions do you have" and then went into details of my experience. I was given several excuses for delays and ultimately it never happened. The process from 1st interview to rejection notice lasted 3 months. In the end the position was filled by someone in house. I have spoken with another candidate who had a similar experience. Hiring manager was unprofessional in how she handled this process.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Seattle, WA (took a day)
I had previously worked at this location and was interviewed by a manager that I already knew. She asked about my availability, start date, and commitment to the store. After the phone call I had an agreement that I would return to work at that location.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Seattle, WA (took 5 weeks)
My resume was sumitted by a friend within the company. Was called by a recruiter. Interview questions were mostly about personality and fit within the company. The hirhing manager gave me a case analysis, but the case analysis was more about the analytical process than getting the right answers. Ultimately didn't get the job due to a candidate with more practical experience. Great culture and great organization, all the interviews were, while difficult, very "fun" and enjoyable.

Received and Declined Offer

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Seattle, WA (took a day)
Applied online for open positions. Received a call back from a Store Mgr to come in to interview, given location and time of interview. Notified that it would be panel style with another Store Mgr attending. Upon arriving, I clarified which position the interview was for, Shift Supervisor, and we proceeded. Interview process was predictable and I interviewed well and was invited back for 2nd interview. There were a few problems with choices made by management in this interview- see "why did you choose to decline the offer"
Reason for Declining
Interviewed on the sales floor within earshot of approximately 20 customers. I did not expect this from an Int'l company with unlimited resources to allow for candidate privacy.
Was denied the opportunity to meet and interview the person to whom I would be accountable/my manager. As a professional with over 7 years in retail management, I was surprised by their lack of tact.
Employees as "Partners" was the pitch, yet the two choices in addition the general lack of enthusiasm of Baristas at interview location suggested SB was not in fact tuned into employee's needs whether potential or currently on staff.

Interviewed Apr 2009 in Seattle, WA (took 3 days)
I already worked for the company, so i knew what to expect. It was easy, lots of question about Starbucks core values to see if you embody the skills they require for shift supervisor. Using correct Starbucks terminology is very important.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in Seattle, WA (took 2 weeks)
The hiring process is interesting at Starbucks. Applicants can expect a 2 stage interview process in front of a panel and hiring managers. Applicants will be asked questions that test applicable knowledge, abstract thinking and why they want to work for Starbucks. Internal candidates will go through the same interview process. It is a practical and enjoyable experience

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Seattle, WA (took 2 months)
First I had a 45 minutes 1:1 interview where they asked me about my background. This was easy. Then I had a very short talk with a person from HR to talk about my work permits, time schedule etc. After that I went to headquarters to have an interview with 4 different people, 30 min each. They mainly asked about behavioral questions. I had a lunch with another person, and that was it.

They were super nice. They called me in at one of the University of Washington location. For most of the hour, she explained the situation and asked me basic questions. It was my first job interview and it went badly. I felt like I was stumbling and I was and I believe that is why i did not receive it.
