Interviewed Mar 2012 (took 2 months)
I applied for the position in January and right away had a phone interview with HR. Over two months later, was invited to meet with their interview panel. I walked into the room and started stating my qualifications and was interupted was the VP who said I was not a good fit (I have 11 plus years of experience in higher education admissions) and should apply for the Learning Service Manager job (with no IT experience). I tried calling the VP at his hotel and he never returned my call. I spoke with HR yesterday. They hadn't talked to the team, but felt the VP didn't want to waste his time. How can he waste his time when he knew nothing about me!

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Atlanta, GA (took 2 days)
It is a generalized behavioral based interview that is standardized for each position. If you fail to answer a question or find it difficult to verbalize your past experiences, you will lose points. Spend a lot of time practicing "what did you do in this type of scenario" question/answers.

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took a day)
I was contacted by telephone and offered an interview, which was to be given a few days later at the campus--several hours' drive from my home. Given the amount of travel required, I requested hotel accomodations and was given a room at a nice hotel, very near the campus. I arrived late in the evening and went to the scheduled interview the next day.
The inteview was carried out by a panel, and the general atmosphere was very gracious and welcoming, but professional. The interview consisted of alternating questions about my problem-solving skills, my ability to work with well with a team, and my teaching philosophy. I was then asked to give a brief, 10 minute teaching presentation. A computer and projector were provided, along with a "smart" clicker to advance slides. By this time, the tempo had shifted into a comfortable, quite natural pace. And I felt confident that an offer would be made. It was made clear to me that I would be offered the position at the end of the presentation, although, technically, the "actual" offer is made by telephone from a chief officer at the company's headquarters.

Negotiation Details
I was able to negotiate an increase from the base salary with relative ease. By performing a search of CUPA-HR's salaries for professors, I was able to present my findings to the individual who contacted me to finalize and make official the offer of employment. Within this organization, there is a standard salary window for professors--regardless of their areas of expertise.

I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Group/Panel Interview, a Presentation and a Background Check.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Alexandria, VA (took 1 week)
I was called by a recruiter and given a phone interview. After the phone interview I was set up for an interview with the admissions manager and the campus director in which i'd be working. Then I had another interview with another campus director(tough interview where they pretend like your not good enough to hire so that they can see your confidence and how well you handle pressure). Next, An offer was made via email a few days after the interview. I was very satisfied with the entire hiring process..quick and professional.

Interviewed Aug 2010 (took 1 week)
So far I have only had a phone interview with Strayer, however they seem quite professional and friendly at this point. The interview lasted about 30 minutes and was very practical and informative. There were not behavioral based questions at this point in the process. They are very timely in getting back to you about the results of an interview. Also it seems that Strayer is in a high growth mode, which is intriguing for those that would like an opportunity to grow with a company that is growing fast. Currently I am in a small company.

multiple 1-on-1 interviews. very behavioral. long but not stressful. they were very concerned about probing my ability to lead teams, motivate teams, build consensus, etc. everyone i met was very kind, friendly, and welcoming. they were interested in hiring smart, motivated, good people - not necessarily people w/ decades of experience in the industry.
