Interviewed May 2011 in Toronto, ON (Canada) (took a day)
I e-mailed all of the managers in Toronto with a short description of my skills. The next day a manager called me and asked me to meet the next day. I was interviewed by 2 men who asked general questions about myself and why i believed i could be a financial advisor. The final question they asked me was "what do you think is the most important thing is about a sales job?." i said the most important thing about a sales job is building relationships as the majority of sales are based off of emotions. After that, they told me that i basically had the job.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
- Didnt like how i would be handcuffed by only selling their products.
- Financial advisors are paid off of sales and not AUM
- Cant buy or sell people stocks like an Invesment advisor can

Interviewed May 2010 (took a day)
Person called and asked to set up an appointment for a 20 minute phone interview.
During the phone interview, the person asked me to tell me about myself, expound on a project that is significant for you, what are your financial responsibilities, if you are responsible for all phases of the project.
They will then talk with the hiring manager to see if the projects that I have worked on fits the hiring manager's requirements.

Interviewed Mar 2010 (took 3 weeks)
I honestly thought my interviewer hated me and was very surprised when they asked me to continue the interview process. I interviewed for a Sales Associate position and when he asked me how my friends would describe me (a crappy question in itself), he looked like he wanted to kill me when I said I was easy-going and polite. A nearly direct quote: "That's not what I look for in Sales People." Chilling. I snapped into super professional, extra ambitious mode and he seemed to like that better... easy enough. The next step for me was completion of a 9 PAGE questionnaire. 9 PAGES of repeated questions and cryptic personality-related questions. Yikes. I'm still waiting to hear back about a second round. Cross your fingers for me!

Negotiation Details
Mention that you're willing to relocate and they love it. Being a first round, there was little to know salary discussion... I'll save that for later.
