Interviewed Dec 2009 in Jersey City, NJ (took a day)
I was given a short excel test, and spoke to 1 interviewer. Had my enagement ring stared down the whole time. But they never asked about it, or about my future career interests. They later told my recruiter I didn't seem interested in the position, which made absolutely no sense after I spent 3+ hours with them.

The interview process was very thorough. The HR person you interview with first will most likely be very easy going, just making sure you pass all the simple stuff ...aka, that you're not an idiot and you have some clue as to what you'll be doing. The real interview comes with the manager and their two assistant managers from the team you'll be working with. Don't sweat it. Just say all the right things, be honest, and you're fine.

Interviewed Apr 2009 in Fort Worth, TX (took 4+ weeks)
The process was very lengthy and strenuous.
Having to fly to Ft. Worth and Omaha from Chicago to meet with upper management, and then waiting two weeks for an offer. Once the offer was accepted they expected you to drop everything and start immediately. If you were unable to start immediately the offer was pulled

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Omaha, NE (took 1 week)
The initial communication occurred through the recruiter and a conference call was sent up for the initial interview. I had only one real interview besides those discussions you have with a recruiter. Both the hiring manager and the team lead were polite. The hiring manager asked me questions about operations such as employee ramp up time, skills needed for the analyst and such. It turned out he was asking me because he didn't know himself. The team lead asked me technical questions that were on target for this position and I was able to answer. I was asked to come back for an in person interview but, before that could be set up the hiring manager had to get approval from the execs and found that he could not, in fact, hire anyone for this position.

Contacted by a recruiter for a phone interview. From there, you set up a one on one interview with the recruiter. That interview consisted of conversation and some behavioral questions. After that interview, a personality test is sent and then a final interview is made with two hiring managers that includes background history and behavioral questions.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Fort Worth, TX (took 2 days)
I was called one day and without setting any phone interview time I found myself in the phone interview. I was asked a couple of questions regarding my background, the position I applied and the company and because I was a great match to the position, I was called to the on site interview immediately. 2 days later, I went to the on site interview and had a 1 to 1 interview with the manager of the team. Interview went great.
Later, I was called and informed that they want to extend me an offer. They said they will have a background check run and will call me. One day later, same person, talent acquisition person (TAP) calls me and offers me the job (on Tuesday), tells me all about the benefits, bonus, the salary. Salary is quite low for the position and I was given only 3 days to decide whether to accept the job or not. I want more time, but they say it would be invalid offer after Friday.
Wednesday, TAP calls me and leaves a message to me saying that she won't be in office on Friday, the day i am suppose to respond and the Monday. She leaves me another contact person. I am thinking this must be crazy odd. Why do they rush so much for my response if they are not gonna be able to even take it.... Just to make you more stressed.
I write a negotiation letter with a reasonable amount of base salary change and my reasons for the counter proposal. I sent it on Wednesday and wait for all Wednesday and the Thursday till 1.30. No phone or e-mail response and I am suppose to decide and give my decision tomorrow.!!! I leave phone messages and then finally in the afternoon, TAP calls me and just says that they not only accepted my offer, but also decided to go with a new internal search. Although I have not given a response on accepting or declining the job to them, (I just made a new salary base suggestion and let them that I am open to negotiation), they simply say that my offer is invalid after this point. I tell her that I cannot understand. She makes up excuses, saying that they want to look at internal people now. What is this? you call people, interview many people from outside of the company and even offer a job and then take it within 3 day, saying that they want someone internal.
Message is clear: Never ever apply or even try to communicate with the TD Ameritrade HR people.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in Las Vegas, NV (took 2 days)
I found the job listing on the career sites (indeed, monster etc) and put in my application online. I was called the same day for a phone interview with the local branch manager. After we spoke he emailed me a Sales Key test. The test was 244 questions and it took about 30 minutes to complete. The next day I went in for a 1:1 interview with the branch manager.
The way I understood the position you will be spending 70-80% of your time on the phone calling warm leads and doing business most sales over the phone. Walkin and in person appointments are not as common. The position appears to be 90% sales and very little admin/service work. The base pay for this position is around 40k with quarterly bonus potential. I also found out the salary range for the customer service person is around 39k with small bonus.
The office was very modern and everyone had offices. It seem very quiet and no customers where in the lobby while I was there.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in New York, NY (took a day)
In the end the firm just didn't feel like a fit for me. The manager I met with basically told me that the firm is just positioning itself into a new market and they are still ironing out the training process. I felt like it was a little too rookie for me at this point in my career. They also have no access to insurance. I have a planning background and don't see how one could logically plan estates and such without it.

Interviewed Jun 2009 (took 3 weeks)
I worked through a local recruiter to secure an interview with an initial manager. The manager was very professional and had a series of questions about my past expereince. We compared ideas and thoughts about the ongoing issues within their organization and what I can do to assist them.
The 2nd interview was scheduled before I had the chance to even drive home from the 1st one. It was scheduled for 2 days later with the overall department manager. The manager very professional and really the conversation was very easy going and simple. Not very stressful at all.
I was told that they stopped interviewing after meeting with me, but unfortunately the recruiter wanted to go for more money and TD Ameritrade blew any offers off the table. I tried to negoiate with them, but they started thinking again and went with a different person.
