Interviewed Oct 2009 (took 5+ weeks)
The interview process was quite protracted over a period of time as it moved through the various stages. The Company was quite forward and up front about the expectations and responsibilities of the position. I would arrive prepared and do you research on this company before interviewing. they seem that they would be ready to train and are looking for the right fit.

Interviewed May 2008 in Edmonton, AB (Canada) (took 2 days)
I was an internal employee already, looking for a change of location and role. Talked with VPs in the area of interest, who had their directors call me to discuss plans and interests. A position was coming available so I applied for it and was subsequently interviewed by video conference and then in-person for a second interview which included both presentation and behavioural components. Tough questions related to the presentation, lots of objection handling and the like - as would be expected for this type of position. Nothing unexpected, really, other than the fact that it was not discussed that there would be tough questions, etc. Again, they were expected so no big deal.

Negotiation Details
Because the salary bands are more or less established, I was able to negotiate on the fact that I was coming in with a good base of skills and experience so I ended up in the middle of the band (rather than the bottom).
Other Details
I applied In-Person and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview and a Presentation.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Toronto, ON (Canada) (took 2 weeks)
the interview was not heavy on technical side but mostly on thought process and figuring out whether the candidate had a good problem solving process and i guess work flow process. it was very draining as they would tease the answer they're after out of you.

Interviewed Jan 2008 in Vancouver, BC (Canada) (took 3 days)
3 Interviews - 1 Phone, one 1:1, then a panel interview. The 1:1 was by the team's trainer and it was also a skills exam. he basically asked some personality questions and some other questions to fell-me-out then put me in a lab to troubleshoot some issues. Once that was out of the way I had to do a background check with the BackCheck, then an aptitude test.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Vancouver, BC (Canada) (took a day)
3 Rounds, first was a basic phone interview, second was an in-person behavioural, and the 3rd was a case interview (given 2 hours to analyze a harvard case, then 20 minute presentation + Q&A). First sound had simple questions just on why the company, behavioural questions, and about future plans. Second round had a market size, as well as typical leadership, teamwork, etc questions. And final round was a marketing/strategy focused case to really just see analytical skills.

Interviewed Dec 2009 (took 2 weeks)
I applied for the job about 2 months ago and 2.5 weeks ago I received an email asking me to come in for an interactive pre-employment assessment. It lasted two hours and involved agreeing or disagreeing with statements. An example would be something like, "I lose my temper quickly." You choose on a scale between totally agreeing to totally disagreeing. For typing they have you read a sentence at a time and type it out and also listen to a sentence at a time and type it out. They have you listen to sample calls and choose which response or action to take would be best. In this part you also have to enter in things like serial numbers as the audio plays. You can repeat the audio track but you lose points each time. They have you look at two numbers and decide if they are the same or different and answer as quickly as possible. I didn't answer every question in the time provided for this part. They have you look at a series of pictures and choose which picture would come next in the sequence. If you've done an IQ test it's pretty much the same, just look for patterns. I can't remember much more from the test. I did that about 2 weeks ago. I was contacted 5 days after that and given a brief screening interview and was asked to come in for a live interview. Going into the interview I was nervous because I bombed my previous interview for a similar job. I was told it was going to behavioral based questions. The interview lasted about an hour and she only asked two. The rest just felt like normal interview type questions, "Why did you choose TELUS?", "Where do you see yourself in the future?".It was a painless process, just put yourself in a confident place mentally and picture you're having a conversation with someone you're comfortable with. A few days later one of my references was contacted by a third party company. He was contacted again a few days later with 2 or 3 followup questions. I was contacted the day after that and offered the job. They were only contacted by 1 out of 3 of the references I provided. 2 of them were out of the country on Christmas vacation.
The process seemed straight forward but dragged out a while. All the staff I had contact with were very nice but I didn't talk to the same person twice and the phone interview was done with someone out of province. It's a big company. The people I know who work in the same industry say TELUS is a great place to work. Let's see how it goes.
