Very detailed Interview process. First Level was panel interview. Once the initial group was narrowed down, those selected moved on and were required to provide a presentation. The 3rd stage was an interview with the Director. Following this the last stage was a background check.

The only advice I would give is to know what you are worth. Do some research and find out what the market is paying.

This is for anyone considering Corporate Development (ie. Strategy, Planning, M&A, Regulatory, Product/Technology Strategy, etc) opportunities with Telus, you might find my experience with them to be rather useful.
Most people (often corporate HR professionals and others) are quick to suggest that the vast majority of reviewers that post on sites such as Glassdooor.com are either disgruntled, angry or have an axe to grind, hence the reviews are mostly negative. Let me state that such an assertion is not only patently false and unfounded, but it's rather laughable. In my case, Telus was a "back-up" plan that didn't come to fruition, but fortunately, not long after the Telus interviews I was made an offer with my first choice --- as Corporate Development Strategy Manager with a large cap Fortune 100 technology company, which I am very much excited about.
Anyway, this is how it the process transpired:
* Applied through the on-line job portal (was referred to by an internal Telus employee, former colleague of mine).
* Recruiter called me to schedule a pre-screen interview.
* 45-min chat with the recruiter (ie. she had no clue about the role; she was just asking a set of questions and writing down my responses).
* Called in for an on-site interview at the 25 York St. offices in Toronto.
* Had a group interview with 3 individuals (including the hiring manager). Again, neither of them had any clue about the role, let alone Telus' market positioning or innovative technologies. The set of questions were more behavioral than about the role. I also felt that they weren't exactly cognizant or fully upto par on the latest disruptive actions of the telecom domain (voice, data, IP/content, video) areas.
I was well-qualified (academically: engineering undergrad degree, law degree and MBA; professionally: over 10 years of experience in investment banking and management consulting), but again, the M&A guys at Telus don't exactly have glamorous resumes themselves, which is probably why unlike their counterparts --- RCI and BCE --- they have been very slow and quiet on the acquisition and partnership front. Going in to the interviews, I had this this at the back of my mind, but knowing this, I didn't feel like asking them the tough questions (ie. why Telus stock is down, no content partnerships, etc. etc.) because obviously no one likes a candidate that questions the organizations strategic moves that didn't provide any revenue or shareholder ROI.
The recruiter promised me that within two weeks I would hear some feedback, but I never heard back despite repeated inquiries. This sort of conduct, for a large corporationj like Telus, is downright distasteful, unprofessional and reflects poorly on the HR recruitment staff.
Anyway, as I have noted above, if you are a mediocre candidate and you really need a job, interviewing with Telus' Corporate Strategy might not be so bad. But if you are a star candidate who has potential, seek opportunities elsewhere (eg. RIM, Google, MSFT, etc). I for one am elated that my first choice came through and I look forward to contributing with a team of highly talented M&A professionals.

It was started from a screening phone interview by HR manager. 2 weeks later i got a phone interview from hiring manager, heavily on technical side. Another two weeks i got an on-site interview with the hiring manager, co-woker and director. Done a case interview, lots of experience & situation based questions.

TELUS Business Solutions prides itself in it's comprehensive candidate selection process. I first was introduced to this opening through a recruiter. First had a 1/2 hr meeting with my hiring manager followed by a telephone follow up. Was next invited to an interview with a director.
Having passed these steps I was asked to prepare a sales presentation to complete for a panel of my future directors and managers... Following this presentation (same day) I was provided with a sales meeting scenario which I was given 1/2 hour to review in advance of taking part in a simulated sales meeting (again in front of a panel). The simulated meeting was designed to test not only my selling abilities but ability to deal with pressure and ethics. This was followed up with a debrief. All told this series of presentations, situational interviews and panels took place over an intense 6 hour period. Intense, exciting and exhausing.
I was offered the job the next week.

The compensation package was very reasonable and there was room for negotiations. For long cycle sales positions you may wish to negotiate some initial KPIs of commission draws.

the interview was not heavy on technical side but mostly on thought process and figuring out whether the candidate had a good problem solving process and i guess work flow process. it was very draining as they would tease the answer they're after out of you.

The interview and hiring process was very thorough and left no stone unturned.
The initial phone interview led to a preliminary real life interview, which then led to a more formal interview where I had to complete two presentations. One presentation was prepared, one presentation was ad hoc.
Testing was the 4th step, and was comprised of a full day of personality, IQ and Skills Testing. A background check and reference check was completed once the testing was satisfactory.

There was some wiggle room in the negotiation process, i.e. vacation days and bonus structures. Be sure to see what you can get in terms of stock options and what percentage of your base pay can be attributed to the bonus structure.
