Interviewed Dec 2011 in Boston, MA (took 3 weeks)
First round: video interview on a site called hirevue. asked to record responses via webcam to various (basic) questions.
Second round: phone interview with recruiter
Final round: flown to corporate headquarters in framingham (boston). participate in a group activity to test skills necessary for the job. then participate in ten 20 minute interview with various people from HR who ask the SAME EXACT questions. many of the questions were actually questions that you needed to respond to on the video interview (they could have just watched the video interview and gotten the same responses)
The whole process takes roughly 3-4 weeks from the time you do the video interview to the time you have your final round interview

Interviewed Jan 2012 (took a day)
The HR representative contacted me to schedule a phone interview after I submitted my resume online. I called her back and we setup an appointment for a few days later. During the initial contact she was cold but professional.
She did not call at the arranged time or at all. I left a voicemail 70 minutes after the interview time and asked to reschedule. It is VERY, VERY, VERY rude to miss an appointment. I would never consider working for this company. Folks in my experience this lack of professionalism is a good indicator of a bad company. If they lack the courtesy to contact you as a candidate, they will be much worse to work for. I am interviewing them in as much as they are interviewing me.
Takeaway: They appear to be a rude and disorganized company.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 2 months)
I was emailed on LinkedIn by a recruiter. We set up a time to talk on the phone, which was an hour-long conversation about the open buyer position. Then, I was asked to interview with the GMM in person. I went to TJX and interviewed with both the recruiter (1 hour) and the GMM. It seemed that the recruiter's main goal was to provide information about the buyer position and to directly ascertain my salary level. The GMM interview was scheduled for 1 hour but ended up taking over 2 hours. He asked questions from my resume interspersed with descriptions of common situations that buyers dealt with. He also asked some general questions about my personality and the way I approach work and organize changing priorities, a busy schedule, and managing a team. It went well, and I was asked to interview with the SVP. Again, I met with the recruiter first (again, general information about the role and confirmed salary level). Then the interview with the SVP took less than one hour. I think that because I mentioned I was happy at my current job, it might have caused the interview to end early. That was my mistake.
Perceptions of the people, office, and work culture:
TJX has three buildings at 770 Cochituate Road, and two more nearby. It is a huge place with thousands of employees based in Framingham. When I asked, the GMM said that one thing he would want to change about TJX is that it is a large, bureacratic, slow-moving organization. They do what they do well, but it is difficult to implement change - there is red tape and a full bureacracy to deal with. That said, the average tenure of a TJX employee is 19 years which is incredible. All the people I met seemed very nice and happy to be there, which was great to see.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Framingham, MA (took a day)
I applied online, and after about 2 months received an e-mail invitation to do a HireVue interview (questions pop up on the screen, you have 30 seconds to develop an answer, and then you have 3 minutes to give your answer). Exactly a week after I completed the online interview I got a call asking me to come to Boston to interview. The Boston interview lasted from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. and consisted of an individual allocation case, a group allocation case, ten 20-minute interviews with different members of the HR staff, lunch, and then partnering with a current allocation analyst to see what they do. The ten interviews were draining but they all asked mainly the same questions. The main advice I would give is to keep your energy up! Oh and they really stress being good with numbers so have examples of times when you used numbers/data to make a decision or recommendation--this is huge to them.
The people were nice, most were young and/or female. The office was beautiful, mostly cubicles or small workspaces though. Very collaborative environment.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Scranton, PA (took 1 week)
Initial interview was 2 on 1, Question's mainly focused on my background and what makes it applicable to a distribution supervisor role. Format of questions was "tell me a time when..." using a real life event to explain what the problem was, what you did and the result. Major use of the STAR response (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Questions ranged from personality disagreements between your team members and how you solved that to a time when you disagreed with senior leadership and how you resolved it. Total time 45 mins.
On site interview was a panel interview consisting of myself and 5 others including the AVP. Again I reviewed my background and what makes me think this would be a good company and position for myself. Questions were asked round robin from a standard set each member had in writing in front of them which they took notes on. Major us of the STAR response on "tell me a time when..." The most unusual aspect of this interview was that the AVP asked if I had any more questions, I asked my questions and then he would reply well certainly you have more questions. I ended up talking over half an hour just on questions alone. Typically you have about half a dozen prepared questions and a few more that develop during the course of the interview. I ended up asking so many questions I looked outside and asked who did their landscaping. Total time 2 hours.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Framingham, MA (took 4 weeks)
I applied online and received an email about 3 weeks later to setup a phone interview. I then had a phone interview with a recruiter who had 10+ years of experience as a buyer. The interview stared with normal behavioral questions, but I quickly steered the conversation towards the company's business model and it's performance in the tough economy. After about 30 minutes, the interviewer told me that I would be coming on site for a final round and to look out for correspondence from an interview coordinator.
About three weeks later, TJX flew me to Framingham, put me up in a hotel overnight, and took me to HQ for the final interview day. The final interview consisted of ten 20-minute behavioral interviews, an individual activity, a discussion of the activity with about 10 other interviewees, and a job shadow.
I received a call 3 days later offering me the job.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Framingham, MA (took a day)
After sending in my application I was contacted by the head of HR, and she went over the position that I would be interviewing for and set up the date for the interview. The interview process consisted of a standard 1:1 interview where the interviewer went over my resume and asked some question of my previous experience and how I felt that would fit in with them. The interview lasted only about 30 minutes and was really laid back, and after about a week I got a call back about the position.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took a day)
The recruiter was very quick with me. It was as if I was getting in his way and he did not want to speak to me. While answering the questions, I always got cut off and didn't get a chance to explain anything. Right after the interview was completed, I knew I would not be considered any further. I feel like I didn't get a chance to demonstrate my abilities.
