I applied through an employee referral and the process took 4 months - interviewed at TVA.
Interview Details – The best way to find out about position openins is to know someone that works there, networking. The hiring process includes, in this order; resume submission and filtering, EEI test, interview (three person panel with standard questions) and finally physical. If you have a strong mechanical/electrical background, it will benefit you greatly.

I applied through an employee referral - interviewed at TVA in June 2013.
Interview Details – Learn to be extremely patient and expect HR to really give you the run around, and that is if they really want you!
Interview Question – The HR department really wants to qualify you by race and sex to make sure they are meeting their quotas. So if you are a male avoid this place like the plague! You have no hope moving up unless you are a female. If you also happen to be a minority you don't even need to perform your job very well if at all to move up. So keep that in mind. I am sure they will quote their stupid SPP on this point, but trust me as a 18+ year employee, it is true! Answer Question
Reason for Declining – All the points I mentioned in my review....
I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at TVA in January 2011.

I applied online and the process took 6+ weeks - interviewed at TVA in May 2011.
Interview Details – I applied online and received a phone call requesting an interview within 3 days. Had an interview and received an offer 2 days after the interview. The on-boarding takes many weeks however. This is due to drug test, background check, and going to New Employee Experience in Chattanooga. New Employee Experience or NEE is a really neat way to learn about the company and meet other new employees.
Interview Question – Explain a situation where you had to deal with a tough situation and how you handled it. View Answer

I applied in-person and the process took 2 months - interviewed at TVA.
Interview Details – Having interviewed for three different engineering positions here, the interview questions can vary widely from non-technical to technical. Some interviewers have written questions on three-phase power to solve while others asked for evaluation of test results of a breaker bushing. Being in the South, the interviewee's football affiliation can play an indirect part in how well one meshes with the interviewer.
Interview Question – There was one question where an AC circuit was given voltage, power, and a desired power factor. The interviewee was expected to find the required capacitance that needed to be added in parallel to the load. Answer Question

Interviewed at TVA
Interview Details – Group interview. Many questions, most of them quote easy - little time or regard for conversation. Was interviewed by immediate supervisors as well as next-level-up VP. Interesting atmosphere, culture seemed perhaps a bit dated relative to private sector companies.
Interview Question – What do you expect to be the most difficult challenge in this position? Answer Question
Reason for Declining – Better offer in the private sector

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at TVA in February 2013.
Interview Details – I applied through the company web site. I received an e-mail three weeks later from an HR representative, who scheduled a phone interview later that week. Two supervisors called me on speaker phone for the interview. First, they gave me some information about the job (in addition to what was in the posting) and allowed me to ask some questions. Then, they informed me that the interview would consist of ten questions, and if I wanted, I could skip a question and come back to it later. Most of the questions were behavioral-type questions.
After I finished answering the questions, they gave me the opportunity to ask additional questions about the position. They gave informative answers to my questions. They said that they had some additional phone interviews scheduled for the following week, and after that, they would bring in some of the candidates for on-site interviews. They did not contact me again.
